Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War - Story Trailer, Editions and Release Date Revealed
Activision had a bit of fun today with the official gameplay reveal for their upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. Players had to log into a match of Call of Duty: Warzone, get into a lobby and game, before being whisked away to our official gameplay reveal. Along with the gameplay trailer for the campaign, we also got our first details such as prices on editions (yes, sadly there is a small price to pay for the next-gen upgrade edition), and new screenshots.

Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War's way of revealing a new trailer and information was certainly unique - and seemingly attracted a lot more players to crowded servers on Warzone - but the trailer also eventually found its way online via Call of Duty's official YouTube channel. Set in 1981 in one of the most volatile times of the Cold War, the game will act as a direct sequel to the first Black Ops and sees characters like Mason, Woods and Hudson return. According to Eurogamer, there will also be a character creator with some options that will impact gampelay, and have a lot more freedom to tackle objectives during missions - like Hitman - with extra dialogue options.
Now onto some of the meatier details, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War will come in three editions: the Standard Edition, which costs $60, a cross-gen bundle at $70 which will allow players to upgrade to next-gen, and an Ultimate Edition at $80. A multiplayer reveal is scheduled to take place on September 9th, where we'll likely hear about the multiplayer modes as well as Zombies. Lastly, the release date of the game has been confirmed - after some recent leaks - to be November 13th, 2020. That will pit it in the same launch time frame as Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077.
Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War releases on November 13th, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and PC, with paid upgrades to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
