Silent Hill is one of Konami's many tragic IPs left to wander an uncertain future (next to the likes of Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania). Konami, once a dominant gaming developer and publisher in the industry, has mostly moved away from AAA video game production, opting to focus on various other forms of entertainment within their divisions - namely pachinko machines and the gambling industry. However, rumours began stirring of the Silent Hill IP possibly being shared or outsourced to another company, and now it looks like the series' composer might be hinting at something big being announced soon.

In an interview with Arabic gaming site " class="general_link" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" >Al Hub (now removed, though corroborated by Wccftech), famed Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka dropped a big hint that his new project will be revealed this summer, but it's something very specific. "You'll probably hear something this summer, to be announced, and I think it's the one you're hoping to hear about. But we're keeping it general at this point," said Yamaoka.

Of course, this has caused plenty of speculation online. Previously, it was believed that this PS5-exclusive Silent Hill would appear at The Game Awards last year, but that didn't happen. However, reputable industry insider Imran Khan has stated that he believes the rumours of a new Silent Hill game are credible. "I think the rumours are credible and I know that the people who are rumoured to be involved in Silent Hill are working on something," said Khan. "If Sony’s also making a Silent Hill – which we don’t know that they are, those are just rumours – I would assume that Sony’s not part of [Kojima’s project], if they’re making a separate, Silent Hill-like game, but who knows? The industry’s been weirder than that."
Yamaoka recently worked on Bloober Team's latest psychological horror, The Medium, which is heavily inspired by Silent Hill in many areas. It now looks like he's been busy with another project as well. "The one you're hoping for" can't possibly mean anything other than Silent Hill, but we've been surprised by stranger things in the past. Only time will tell at this point.
