RuneScape Dragonwilds Won’t Get a Price Increase When it Leaves Early Access

RuneScape Dragonwilds, a spin-off of the popular MMORPG RuneScape, is officially exiting its early access period for a 1.0 release on 15 September. To show appreciation for the support the game had received from players during its early access period, developer Jagex is doing something unexpected: it’s not increasing the price of the game with the 1.0 release.

As of writing, players can purchase RuneScape Dragonwilds for $29,99 which is a steal considering the wealth of content and positive reception the game had received from the community. In most cases, developers bringing their games out of early access will often raise the price for the 1.0 version (or make it free-to-play, as is the case with Path of Exile 2). Jagex isn’t buckling to trends, stating that it will keep the 1.0 release fairly priced at $29,99.

Jagex stated in a recent update:

“Since we launched into Early Access, we’ve been extremely proud of the amazing work that has gone into RuneScape: Dragonwilds. So many of you have taken the plunge into Ashenfall, and with every update we are humbled by the number of you trying out Dragonwilds, recommending it to friends and leaving reviews on Steam. The feedback has been incredible, and the game continues to improve with every update, guided and informed by our vision, and your feedback, working together in harmony.”

“Dragonwilds’ success is because of the invaluable participation of our Early Access players, but also thanks to the support and excitement shared by the countless number of fans waiting for Kuldra’s Saga to be complete before you took the plunge with us,” Jagex added. “We hope this small gesture goes some way to showing our endless appreciation for your support and belief.”

Dragonwilds will continue to get monthly updates as the game grows, Jagex confirmed. “We’ll share more about our 2027 plans once we’ve delivered our 1.0 release, and you can tune into our Summit at RuneFest to hear more about 2027 and the next Saga in Ashenfall’s story.”

RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 launches on 15 September 2026 for PC.
