@Tea

Is Square would do a 1:1 remake of Final Fantasy 8 that would be great. But we know that Square won’t be able to help themselves so they’ll end up ruining it with crappy modern game design and bloat.

Final Fantasy 8 is such an amazing game and I want it to stay that way. Seems like most modern developers have a really lost their way.

@Phreak

Same here man, not interested in Revelation either. If you said to me 10 years ago that I’d feel the way I do now about Final Fantasy, I would have called you crazy.

At least the Resonance demo is awesome. I’m looking forward to it

Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Might Be Developed by Xenoblade’s Monolith Soft

by Sam Aberdeen on 03 September, 2026

Earlier this year, Nintendo officially announced The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, a ground-up remake of the legendary title. Apart from a short CG trailer, we have little to no information about the project. A new rumour now suggests that the developer behind the remake is none other than Xenoblade Chronicles studio Monolith Soft.

The rumour originates from Norwegian retailer Elkjøp, which recently listed Monolith Soft as the developer of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake on its website. As many have already pointed out, Monolith Soft has served as a support studio under Nintendo for several titles beyond being the primary developers of the Xenoblade games. More specifically, they provided support for the development of previous Zelda games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Fans believe this listing isn’t entirely accurate as it could simply mean that Monolith Soft is serving as a support studio on the remake rather than its main dev team. On the contrary, it wouldn’t be too surprising if Nintendo allowed Monolith Soft to take the reigns on a Zelda project, especially with the studio’s experience already working on the IP.

There’s a chance that Nintendo’s main team is quietly working on a brand new Zelda for the current-gen Switch 2 – one that’s a new entry and not a remake like Ocarina of Time. Unfortunately, it can’t be verified yet if Monolith Soft is the main or support dev for the remake so we’ll have to wait for an official confirmation directly from Nintendo, who are keeping the remake close to the chest.

The original Ocarina of Time was released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64. Today, it’s widely regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time and a landmark release in Nintendo’s history.
