Rumour: Silent Hill PS5 Reboot Will Appear at The Game Awards in December
It feels like ages since rumours first surfaced of a potential reboot of Konami's iconic Silent Hill franchise. The initial rumours revolved around the game being rebooted as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, with Japan Studio (the team behind Gravity Rush and Forbidden Siren, consisting of former members of Team Silent) helming the project. However, an industry insider, Imran Khan, gave us our biggest hope of seeing a new Silent Hill as he stated that the rumours were "credible". Now, an analyst has teased that the reboot might actually appear this December at Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards.

Analyst Roberto Serrano claims that the Silent Hill PS5 reboot will finally be revealed at The Game Awards this December. While Serrano doesn't have the best track record, the folks at Rely on Horror (a bit more reliably) confirmed that they've heard something similar from one of their own sources. As with all rumours, though, still take this with a grain of salt until we know for certain this December. In addition to this rumour, insider Katharsis, who has a very reliable track record, stated that we should hear something Silent Hill-related before the end of 2020. With the year quickly drawing to a close, The Game Awards is the only next major event where a big game reveal of this caliber could happen.

We'll throw a little more fuel to the fire, as Wccftech's Nathan Birch believes that due to the amount of reliable leaks for a new Silent Hill game, it's a high possibility that a reveal will happen soon. Additionally, Xbox and PlayStation will probably want to bring their big guns to The Game Awards this December too to close off the year and make a more compelling argument for their next-gen consoles. A Silent Hill reboot - especially if it's a PS5 exclusive - would be a huge move for PlayStation, meaning they somehow managed to sign a deal with Konami to share the Silent Hill IP rights. Keep in mind, this all merely speculation and we don't recommend taking it as concrete fact just yet.
The Game Awards airs on December 11th, 2020.
