Mortal Kombat 11 Introduces Kabal and D'Vorah, Shaggy Dismissed
Mortal Kombat 11 made quite a splash when it was revealed at The Game Awards 2018, then extensively detailed in the reveal event. Despite only showing a handful of characters, however, the game looked remarkably jam-packed with yet-to-be-announced fighters - 25 in total. Thanks to the first Kombat Kast held last night, we now know of two new characters joining that roster: Kabal and D'Vorah.
Developer NetherRealm Studios revealed that the speedy character they teased at the reveal event was, indeed, Kabal (and not Sonic the Hedgehog... a man can dream). Kabal was the only one to receive a full gameplay trailer, showcasing his brutally fast moveset that's sure to please those Flash mains from Injustice 2. His new moveset is calculated, quick, and heavy-hitting, so those looking for a fast character with a good learning curve (and a supremely over-powered dash ability), Kabal might be up your alley. Unfortunately, we only got a glimpse and confirmation of D'Vorah, one of the newer characters first introduced in Mortal Kombat X, appearing in the game. We'll have to wait a little while longer for her full gameplay debut, but I can tell you now, as a D'Vorah main, this is great news.
On the weirder side of the internet, fans created several petitions for the Scooby-Doo character, Shaggy, to appear in Mortal Kombat 11 - for some reason, but okay. The Kombat Kast revealed that, tragically, Shaggy will not be a playable character in the game, shutting down our bizarre hopes and dreams.
Mortal Kombat 11 releases on April 23, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
