A couple weeks ago, some sources rumoured that a Spyro the Dragon trilogy remaster is currently in the works for PlayStation 4 and could possibly release this year. There is still little to no evidence of this taking place at this point in time. However, some more promising proof made its way online, with the recent data mine of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy having found code starring a young purple serpent.
According to a tweet from BetaM, it appears the demo code for Spyro the Dragon has intentionally been placed within the main menu of Crash Bandicoot. While it doesn’t confirm that the remaster is on the way, it does add a tangible thought to the fact that something Spyro-related could be made.
In addition to the demo being shown, fans have noticed a Twitter account with the handle @SpyroTheDragon being registered in February. The account is currently private, so there will be no tweets visible to the public, but it does show that Activision does have plans for Spyro in the upcoming future.
This being said, fans would take kindly to the Spyro the Dragon trilogy remaster. Both Activision and the fans would be served greatly with this release, as the former will get a decent amount of money from such a release, and the latter have been wanting to see a return of the beloved, flying fire breather for a while. If Crash Bandicoot is anything to go by, a Spyro release will be more than successful.
The Spyro remaster is still a rumour and has not yet been officially confirmed by the publisher.
Will defend anything Dragon Ball. Occasionally has two-way conversations with himself. Has sleepless nights about Half-Life 3 confirmed.
