Saints Row Reboot Might Be Announced at Gamescom Next Week
Saints Row, the open world action/adventure series, is reportedly set to make a comeback with a reboot supposedly happening next week. Koch Media have been hard at work on multiple projects, one of which we understand is a new Saints Row game. It's been around the rumour mill for some time now, but it looks like we won't have to wait much longer as a reveal is imminent at Gamescom next week - probably at Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live event.

The rumour comes from reputable insider Okami, who recently took to Twitter to claim that they've heard about a Saints Row reboot being announced next week. This lines up with Gamescom, which kicks off with the Opening Night Live event on August 24th. Host Geoff Keighley is no stranger to big game reveals at his events, so Gamescom Opening Night Live is definitely one to look out for if you're hoping to see some surprise announcements. As with all rumours, take this with a grain of salt until we have confirmation next week.

Interestingly, the rumour suggests that this will be a reboot as opposed to a continuation of the mainline Saints Row series - the last entry being Saints Row IV. The franchise has since gone dormant, but this might be the right time to announce a reboot to regain interest in Saints Row again.
Koch Media CEO Klemens Kundratitz said back in 2019 that they were all hands on deck for a new Saint's Row title already. "Saints Row is Saints Row," said Kundratitz. "The two games are similar, for sure, but they're also completely different. With Volition, we have the creators of all the Saints Row games as an internal studio and they're not going to be distracted by anything else from creating our next game under this important franchise."
Kundratitz concluded by saying they'd have more to unveil in 2020, though that never came. "Saints Row is very close to our hearts, and we'll talk about it next year. For the time being, we just wanted to get the word out that it's coming and it's going to be great."
It seems like a long overdue announcement, so we can look forward to Gamescom next week with a bit more optimism.
