Demon's Souls Remake Announced for PS5
Rumours of a Demon's Souls remake have been popping up since last year, when Bluepoint, the developers behind the brilliant Shadow of the Colossus remake in 2018, teased another incoming PlayStation exclusive that would be getting the remake treatment too. Now, we have confirmation that they have been indeed working on Demon's Souls Remake, as the game was unveiled last night at the PlayStation 5 reveal event.

Demon's Souls Remake was announced at the PS5 event with a stunning trailer, showcasing some familiar enemies, locations, and of course, our favourite boss fights like the Tower Knight and Storm King. With the new graphical uplift, it adds a great spectacle to the look and feel of this epic dark fantasy. While no gameplay was shown, we did get a good idea of how the game will look and feel - and it's absolutely remarkable what they've managed to accomplish with the PS5 tech here. Unfortunately, no release date was given yet, though we can probably expect it by holiday 2020 next to the PS5's launch or by 2021, at the latest.
For those that aren't aware, before Dark Souls there was Demon's Souls. Originally developed by From Software and released exclusively on the PlayStation 3 in 2008, Demon's Souls became the foundation for which all future From Software games were built on. The blueprints were there, including vague stories and deep lore, soul-crushing and brutal difficulty, a palpable sense of dread and hopelessness, and more death and sadness than you could cram into a video game at the time. Bluepoint's remake seems to honor From Software's legacy and the game itself, perfectly recapturing the magic (or depressing melancholy) that came with it. We can't wait.
