Call of Duty: Mobile South African Servers Are Now Live

Activision has officially rolled out Call of Duty: Mobile South African servers in the region. While this is exciting news for some, it doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Over the past few weeks, players in SA have been experiencing extremely low ping when playing games in the country. Users on Twitter were baffled as to why the ping was reaching as low as 40ms. Some saw ping as low as 27ms. Today the news is official.

Over on Twitter, the official Call of Duty: Mobile account confirmed the news saying that players across South Africa can now enjoy dedicated servers and compete with players seamlessly around the world. The announcement was shared with a pretty cool image of players jumping out of planes near Table Mountain. Not saying we need a map like that but it would be pretty cool.

Interestingly enough, the URL Activision shared during the announcement includes the name “Carry1st”. For those who don’t know, Carry1st is an official digital storefront in Africa where players can purchase digital vouchers and in-game points and credits. By the look of things, the store will include ways for players to purchase COD Mobile points to use in-game. We have reached out to both Activision and Carry1st for comment on the announcement.

Given the huge uptake of mobile gaming in South Africa, this is great news for those looking to improve the experience. It also gives us hope that future tournaments might now be possible in the region.
