Following Bethesda's acquisition by Microsoft, it was made clear that Bethesda Games Studios' upcoming RPG, Starfield, was going to be a console exclusive to Xbox Series X/S alongside PC. Unfortunately, this meant that PlayStation 5 owners would miss out on the game, and it's starting to look increasingly likely that The Elder Scrolls 6 will get the exclusivity treatment as well. Bethesda has now come forward to apologize to PlayStation owners about the exclusivity deal, but assured that it would make their development process a lot smoother on just two platforms.

Bethesda VP Pete Hines recently spoke on " class="general_link" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" >GameSpot Play For All Live, in which he discussed the Xbox exclusivity deal and how that has helped them focus on developing for just two platforms, making the process a lot quicker and smoother. "The other thing you asked about is what is the impact on development. Well, I'm here to tell you, and any dev will tell you this, you go to fewer platforms and your development gets more streamlined you're not worrying about well how does it work on this box versus how does it work on that box," said Hines.

Still, it's the timed exclusivity deals that annoy me more (stuff like The Medium, Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo) than a game that's fully developed under the ownership of a new overlord. With timed exclusives, a console manufacturer is simply paying to limit access of a product to other groups of consumers - a properly[censored] practice.
