Marvel Releases Essential MCU Movies to Watch Before Avengers: Doomsday
Ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday this December, Marvel Studios and Disney have released a list of all the essential movies and TV shows from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and beyond) that you should watch to prepare yourself. There are a couple of surprises in there, such as Deadpool and Wolverine and Spider-Man: No Way Home, that has fans speculating about whether or not Marvel will surprise us with these characters’ inclusions in the movie.
The list thankfully doesn’t have a lot of Marvel TV shows you need to watch. The only one listed is Loki, which is available to stream on Disney Plus. It only ran for two seasons, so you’ll be able to catch up pretty quickly. The rest are past MCU movies. Have a look at the list Marvel Studios recommended below:

The Fantastic Four: First Steps
From the first trailer, we know that groups like the Thunderbolts (sorry, New Avengers) and the Fantastic Four will play pivotal roles next to the likes of the original X-Men, Shang-Chi, Black Panther, and Captain America. However, the inclusion of Deadpool and Wolverine as well as Spider-Man: No Way Home (and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, actually) has us wondering if Avengers: Doomsday still has a few surprises up its sleeve that it hasn’t shown in the trailers.
Specifically, there’s the possibility that we’ll see Doctor Strange as well as the Deadpool and Wolverine duo in the upcoming movie – characters that, for some reason, were kept hidden in the trailer. A more hopeful wish might add Spider-Man to that list but we think he’s being saved for Secret Wars, which will release in cinemas in December 2027.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in cinemas worldwide on 14 December 2026.
