Black Myth: Zhong Kui Debuts 15 Minutes of New Gameplay
Game Science has debuted a new 15-minute gameplay video for its upcoming action game, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the second game in the Black Myth series following 2024’s Black Myth: Wukong. The gameplay showcases the new protagonist in combat as well as some early story details.
Game Science revealed that the gameplay footage shown was from a work-in-progress build of Black Myth: Zhong Kui and many elements could be changed by the final release. That said, development seems to be progressing smoothly on the successor to Wukong, highlighting its signature fast-paced, flashy combat style and exciting action. The game is scheduled to launch in 2028, so a lot could change or be added in that time. The first footage already debuted earlier this year, which you can check out right here.
For now, the gameplay is pretty impressive and promising. A new, human hero will take the protagonist’s place. The story description/hero monologue provided by Game Science also teases the game’s narrative, which may feature a trip through the Underworld:
“With blood on my blade, I paint a new crimson hue on my face. An old friend pays a visit while the dream lasts. Old faces and past deeds have vanished from my sight, But I still remember each of them – day and night. Bound by love, they grow old; the righteous path lies far away. Today’s grace or grievance does not define the final song. Who said the Underworld is far? All the better – I will walk through it again.”
There’s plenty of excitement surrounding Zhong Kui. More curious eyes are now on the sequel following Wukong’s unprecedented success. As of writing, Wukong has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling games of the last five years.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s expected to launch sometime in 2028. You can watch the full 15 minutes of gameplay below:
