Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Confirmed for January 2021

UPDATE: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been confirmed at the Ubisoft Forward event, launching on PS4, Xbox One and PC on January 21, 2021. Check out the reveal trailer below:

ORIGINAL STORY: Last month, the internet was set ablaze when the first reports of a Prince of Persia remake being in the works surfaced. This would be later corroborated by reliable Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, making the announcement all the more likely to happen. Recently, Ubisoft released a advertisement for their upcoming Ubisoft Forward event, clearly showing a symbol taken straight out of The Sands of Time. Now, it seems like the Russian Uplay has jumped the gun and accidentally given us our first two images, confirming the existence of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.

The two images (or banners) were first posted on the Russian Uplay, showing the new design for the Prince, while the second image shows who we think might be Farah (a gif was later uploaded too). The logo in the top left of the images clearly show that it's a remake of just Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, possibly shooting down rumours that the entire "Thrones" trilogy (consisting of The Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones) would be included in this remake. That said, the leaked images have garnered a bit of criticism online, with some expressing their concern for the new character models. Finally, the last image seemingly shows the menu screen.

As some have pointed out, the images are very low-quality to make any judgment, but we hope the final reveal looks a lot more polished. Until we have confirmation of Ubisoft's announcement later tonight, we recommend taking all of this with a grain of salt, but we'll know for certain at Ubisoft Forward. For the most part, the rumours do seem to be shaping up, and it's very likely we'll hear something related to Prince of Persia soon. Another title confirmed to be at Ubisoft Forward is Immortals: Fenyx Rising (formerly Gods & Monsters), which is looking to be the highlight of the show alongside this rumoured Prince of Persia return.

When we watched this last night I thought Youtube had downgraded the video to 240p, it looks awful, I'd rather just play the original then.

@Deathgiga - if it was a straight remaster it would explain the limitations on the visuals, but many elements of the character models and environments loo entirely new, just rubbish? Still, the best thing from that presentation so I'm not complaining.
