Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem and Pearl Abyss’ open world action game, Crimson Desert, have topped the list of the best-selling games of 2026 so far, at least in the US. Nonetheless, it’s a good metric to judge how well games are selling as the US market is fairly large for gamers.
According to Circana’s Mat Piscatella on Bluesky, Resident Evil Requiem is currently the best-selling game of 2026. Capcom’s new survival horror entry managed to sell an impressive six million copies in less than a month, breaking the franchise’s sales record as the fastest-selling game in Resident Evil’s history. Strong reviews and a warm reception from players also contributed to its success.
Meanwhile, Crimson Desert is following close behind in second place, having sold over five million copies to date (though that number isn’t accurate and it could’ve sold much more). This is where the US sales market may slightly differ to the rest of the world, as the baseball sports game MLB The Show 26 ranked third on the best-seller list, followed by Pokemon Pokopia and WWE 2K26. Obviously other countries’ top-selling titles will be different but it’s impressive nonetheless that it’s up there, nipping at the heels of Resident Evil and Crimson Desert.
To address the elephant in the room, all of this will likely pale in comparison to the numbers that Grand Theft Auto 6 will pull when it launches later this year. When it’s being boasted as the single most anticipated video game launch in history – already walking away with two back-to-back Game Awards in the Most Anticipated category – it’s a no-brainer. Analysts predict GTA 6 will have no trouble breaking at least $1 billion in revenue during its launch window.
Fans also predict that the PS5 exclusive Marvel’s Wolverine will also be a big seller. An extended look at its gameplay will debut at the upcoming PlayStation State of Play showcase this June.
