PlayStation is bringing back the see-through gaming aesthetic of the late 1990s, with the new Prism Collection introducing transparent DualSense controllers and matching PS5 console covers in three colours.
The collection features Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray designs, giving players a new way to customise their PS5 setup while showing off some of the hardware hidden beneath the surface.
The transparent finish is paired with a glossy exterior and metallic detailing, creating a more modern take on the translucent controllers that were popular during the original PlayStation era. According to Sony, the idea was to let players get a closer look at the design and craftsmanship behind its hardware.
The Prism Collection includes three colour options, each with its own distinctive look. Flare Orange offers a bright, vibrant finish, with the overlapping transparent material taking on a subtle rosy hue. Emerald Green uses a deeper green that gains additional visual depth from the see-through design, while Graphite Graydelivers a cooler, more understated look.

The controllers feature a transparent finish across the back, allowing players to see some of the technology inside the DualSense. Sony has also used a metallic finish on the central section to contrast with the clear material and give the controller a more premium appearance.
PlayStation designers Leo Cardoso and Satoshi Aoyagi said the collection was inspired by the return of transparent electronics, a style that became particularly popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The matching PS5 console covers carry the same colour options, allowing players to coordinate their console and controller rather than mixing and matching separate designs.
Pre-orders open on 10 November 2026 at 10:00 local time through PlayStation Direct in supported markets and participating retailers. The collection launches from 4 February 2027.
