Godzilla vs Kong is just over a week away from release (or tomorrow, if you're willing to take a trip to cinemas). Critics were able to catch an early sneak preview of the film, and were allowed to post their thoughts in quick early reactions online. While the full review embargo has yet to drop, we have a sleuth of reactions that all pretty much say the same thing: it's an epic monster brawl worthy of its two iconic big boys - but with noticeably weak human characters (then again, who watches these movies for the humans?).

Thanks to Rotten Tomatoes, we have a flood of early reactions for Godzilla vs Kong, each expressing their pros and cons with the film. For the most part, it's all pros, as the film seemingly lives up to its premise and might even be the best one in the MonsterVerse yet.

"It’s exactly what I wanted it to be. Giant fights and they’re just SO MUCH FUN to watch. It’s a big, ridiculous, awesome movie."
- Brandon Davis, ComicBook.com

"The story here isn’t very strong and the acting minus Hottle & Rebecca Hall is mediocre at best. That said, Godzilla vs Kong 100% delivers on what it promises being one badass monster movie."
- Scott Menzel, We Live Entertainment

"[Director Adam Wingard] gives fans what they want when it comes to an epic face off between these two legendary Titans!"
- Jimmy O, JoBlo.com

"Godzilla vs Kong is breathtaking, out of this world, and easily the best in the series! The heart of the story is Kong, and the human story complements the monsters' adventures, allowing them to shine. Just seeing the two iconic monsters battling each other is worth it alone."
- John Nguyen, Nerd Reactor

"I’ve seen the flick & it absolutely delivers on the Kaiju thrashing. The final battle is the most satisfying brawl we’ve had from this franchise yet, putting the camera where I’ve always wanted to see it in Godzilla movies."
- Brad Gullickson, Film School Rejects

"Had a great time with Godzilla vs Kong which I found way more entertaining than the two previous Monsterverse movies with Godzilla in the title - though Kong feels more central and man did I love him in it. There’s one storyline that feels very extraneous but otherwise I was into it."
- Eric Goldman, IGN

"Godzilla vs Kong is another solid MonsterVerse installment. While more time could have been used to explore this franchise’s deeper mythology, if you’re chiefly looking forward to seeing Godzilla and King Kong collide in a fight for the ages, you won’t be disappointed!"
- Adam Holmes, CinemaBlend

Judging by these early impressions (before the final reviews drop, which should be very soon), Godzilla vs Kong pretty much lives up to its premise if you're looking for dazzling visuals, fun, and giant monsters hitting each other. However, those expecting better human characters might leave disappointed. Then again, it's rare that fans take to the human characters in monster movies, which seems to be a recurring problem that they aren't fleshed out. Regardless, if its monster action you've come for, then it sounds like you'll definitely get bang for your buck.

Godzilla vs Kong arrives in theatres internationally on March 24th, 2021, and HBO Max on March 31st, 2021.
