If you've been following gaming news lately, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint has come under fire by critics and the community for its implementation of microtransactions - the dreaded pay-to-win kind. It didn't sit well with a lot of gamers who felt that Ubisoft may have taken it a bit too far, but now, the developer has come out to clarify some of those nagging concerns. This comes in light of them removing plenty of the pay-to-win mechanics that were present during the early launch week of the game for those who bought the Gold and Ultimate Editions of the game.

Ubisoft recently took to their forums to address the issues surrounding the microtransactions present in the game. They removed the "time saver" items that were purchasable with real-world money, which include "Skill Point bundles, XP Boosters, parts bundles for advanced weapon upgrades". According to them, these were not meant to launch right now, but at a later stage in order to give new players a chance to catch up if they feel the need to do so.
With Ghost Recon Breakpoint, we always aimed at offering a fair and rewarding experience to our players however they want to experience our game, in solo, co-op, PvE or PvP.
From the beginning, two key factors stood out as extremely important for the team:
- That Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint doesn’t include any pay-to-win elements.
- To make sure that players not choosing to engage with in-game purchases do not see their experience affected. Players will be able to unlock skills and get access to plenty of varied loot & items by simply playing the game.
