Ubisoft has yet to make an official announcement for Far Cry 7 but that hasn’t stopped the waves of leaks from appearing online. This latest leak from a known Ubisoft dataminer claims that the game will feature PvPvE extraction shooter elements while reaffirming older leaks about a set time limit to the story and a family that needs rescuing.
The leak comes from RogueTx, a Ubisoft dataminer who seems to have a great track record of accurate game leaks regarding Ubisoft titles. The latest one about Far Cry 7 might leave some scratching their heads as the leaker claims it will be structured like a PvPvE extraction survival shooter – a first for the series – meaning players will likely squad up with other players online to rescue their family members from a militaristic group called the Sons of Truth.
The leak also mentions features like a 72-hour time limit to complete the objectives of saving your family. There will also reportedly be weapon durability, safehouses, and natural dangers like grizzly bears and wolves.
The leaker never explicitly says if this leak relates to the single-player campaign of Far Cry 7 or its long-rumoured multiplayer. At face value, it seems like the PvPvE extraction loop could be related to the multiplayer component of the game, though many fear this could also apply to its campaign as well. It would be a massive departure for the franchise which has always offered strong single-player experiences in the past, now pushing players towards a PvPvE structure that might not sit well with the fanbase.
We have our fingers crossed that this leak only relates to the multiplayer component and that the campaign will still be a traditional single-player experience like previous Far Cry games – though knowing Ubisoft today, we wouldn’t put it past the company to make such a jarring shift.
