Capcom Reveals Big Shipment Figures for DMC5, Resident Evil 2 and Monster Hunter: World

Capcom continues their long journey down redemption road after revealing the impressive shipment figures for the most recent titles, Monster Hunter: World, Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry 5. After being maligned by the gaming community as one of the worst gaming companies in the industry - largely due to their unethical implementation of microtransactions and DLC - they've seemingly made a surprising turnaround ever since Resident Evil 7 in 2017. Now, we get a clearer picture of how well they're performing thanks to recent financial results.

According to their report, Resident Evil 2 has shipped a total of 4.5 million units, Devil May Cry 5 with 2.5 million, and Monster Hunter: World (their most successful game release of all time) hitting 13.1 million units shipped. While they aren't necessarily a reflection of actual sales figures, they more or less give us an idea of how demanded these titles are by the gaming community.

Resident Evil 2 continues to enjoy some strong figures along with the honor of being the highest-rated video game of 2019 so far (and a clear front-runner for Game of the Year). Meanwhile, Devil May Cry 5 shows a steady climb in sales and shipments too, though time will tell if it reaches the heights of its predecessors in terms of long-term sales. As for Monster Hunter: World, Capcom's biggest bread winner, the strong sales, along with the upcoming expansion, Iceborne, will surely continue to break new records for them.

Sadly, Capcom couldn't provide an update on the pre-orders for Iceborne as of yet.

"We are refraining from making a statement regarding this because, in addition to this being our first attempt at launching a massive expansion digitally, we have no option in place for pre-ordering/shipping this title in digital sales, thus it is difficult for us to give an estimate of the first shipment until after the release date," said Capcom. "We believe that the announcement of the massive expansion MHW:I as well as strategic discounts of MH:W stimulated sales among new customers, driving sales growth."

Capcom has also announced that several small and mid-sized titles and ports are currently in development for the Nintendo Switch, though they weren't mentioned by name yet.
