Spyro Reignited Trilogy is less than a couple of months away from launch, and fans are ready to see the lovable purple dragon return to the gaming world - albeit it's in the form of the three original classics, Spyro The Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, remastered with great new visuals.
In a recent discovery made by Wario64 on Twitter, though, he noticed that the box art states that it requires content download. It's revealed that the retail version of the game will only come packaged with the first game on disc. The sequels will need to be downloaded separately in a day one patch. This means that you'll only be getting Spyro The Dragon on the disc at launch, unlike the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy which featured all three of its original Naughty Dog classics on the disc.
If you go to Spyro Reignited Trilogy's website, this is all confirmed too. Activision doesn't see it as anything bizarre either, as they stated in an interview with PS Lifestyle that "downloading an update after purchase is quite common" these days; which shouldn't be an excuse to not feature all three games on disc when it could've easily done so.
Knowing that both sequels will be downloadable content, it means that the day one patch will be significantly larger than any other day one patch, considering it's actually two whole games. This is especially upsetting news for those who perhaps don't have internet or don't want to wait for the games to download, and instead want to play them on day one.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is set for release on September 21, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
