Spyro Reignited Trilogy Devs Talk About Reimagining the Music

@phreak - that I understand. Rabid defenders are rarely better than those that hate on a game. If you like a game or series, it makes sense you want to discuss what it could have done better or where it might go in the future.

Think people have become to comfortable with giving simplistic aggressive responses, attaching a strong emotion to it as justification, then calling it a day.

I will never deny that the FF7 remake games have good graphics, runs well and a great combat system.
Those parts are really well done. It's other things I don't like

Won't deny you that ever. Hope you love it.
I'm just tired of being insulted for not liking changes I feel are disrespectful to the original. Changes I won't talk about here due to spoilers.

@phreak @IcariX - Everyone is entitled to their opinions but personally I am excited for Revelations. I never played the OG FFVII until 2006ish.

Loved it, but the remakes are even better. The combat, graphics and party interactions are great.

Played Remake and while it does have its slow parts i.e walking simulator. It's still a great game. Played Rebirth last month only and it was even better, much more exploration, and yes while there is a ton of side content - most of it is optional.

It was a joy to see Zack again and play as him. and I think in the remakes Aerith's characterisation is miles better than Tifa.

I am hyped for Revelations and cant wait for more.

I am not a purist so do not care much with the story changes, by the end of the trilogy I doubt there will be any crazy differences to the actual ending of FFVII.

Resonance will be my GOTY though, I can see it already.

Elitism is fine except when people lose sense of the context in which games (or any other media) are made.

We're shifting into a bipolar market - maybe exacerbated by social media - where things are near perfect and therefore worth money/time, or people fixate on flaws without considering things like the developers cultural setting, size, budget, development time, and publisher influence.

Increasingly problematic when a few flaws lead to small teams (and sometimes bigger ones) collectively trashed for one or two elements with no regard given for everything else the games/series/movie does well.

Does not bode well as that ultimately means more safe bets and more homogenisation (especially in the console market where creative indie titles don't sell nearly as many copies as on PC).

I can't wait for Resonance. But the more I hear Square Enix talk about Revelations, the less I'm interested in playing it.

I've been called an elitist as well. But the whole Remake trilogy so far feels like poorly written fanfiction. I hope Square Enix stays far far far away from Final Fantasy VIII

Being called an "elitist" because I don't like the changes from the original isn't fair. I LOVE FF, it's my fav game series, but am I not allowed to voice my displeasure things in about it I don't like?

Spyro Reignited Trilogy Devs Talk About Reimagining the Music

Developer Toys for Bob's Spyro Reignited Trilogy is set to arrive soon, and thanks to the breakthrough success of a previous similar remastered collection, the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, there's plenty of anticipation seeing another one of our favourite nostalgic heroes being brought to life again. In an interview with IGN at San Diego Comic-Con, music remixer Stephan Vankov talked about making sure the soundtrack was fitting of the reimagining.

"For us it was really important to get with him early on in the process because, you know, we're remaking his music. His music was amazing in the original. It's very beloved, but it's his music," said Vankov when talking about the original games' scores composed by The Police's Stewart Copeland (I just found that out too, my mind is blown). "My anticipation was that we're really going to have to sell this thing and over-explain… And he's just like 'Let me just hear the music.'"

However, the team was delighted to hear that Copeland actually approved their work. He also offered them the "Spyro concerto" - the main (and now iconic) melody of the original soundtracks, to work with. The new composer then created "Tiger Train" as a result; the opening theme music for Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

Copeland shared his enthusiasm to work on the game again when Activision initially approached him. "Getting there was a little awkward at first. They called and said 'We've got the music reimagined.' I go 'What do you mean reimagined,'" said Copeland. "I'm getting more and more suspicious...so I go down there and I was just blown away. They did a really great job. They very faithfully got all the bass lines, the feel of it, as well as the actual role of notes, which is another layer of getting it right."

“It's just this wild ride through the franchise history,” Vankov finally concluded.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is set to arrive on September 21, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
