@DarkWingDuck

I'm going to call [censored] on your post. I've been buying from Nexus since the AnimeWorx days from about 2008. I have literally never ever had bad customer service from NexusHub. So you are being disingenuous. I don't think you appreciate the great lengths they go to, to get these games for us. But enjoy your other retailers and their[censored] service.

MrOde very good point! I'd pay extra for express overnight shipping.

HaseoVII SAME regarding FF7Rebirth (best believe I preordered Revelation though )

I am such a huge fan of Nexus Hub - no one else in SA imports the niche titles - I used to need to get my stuff from Amazon Japan/US

My backlog is so big I don't care how late I get my orders lol haven't even played FF7 Rebirth or even Stellar Blade yet, but that's just me.

I'd actually go even further and say do standard free shipping for all orders above R1000 but allow an express shipping option/add on for those that want to pay extra. I would gladly pay extra to get whatever I ordered the day after I order it.

Shipping costs on games? What's that?

I'm not looking to start a bad thread about this, I was really just curious because I misclicked the tab on the left and stumbled upon the poll (I'd never clicked it before).

I am fiercely brand loyal to Nexus Hub and I don't care too much about not getting a game day-1. I know other names like BT and Koodoo ship earlier so you get it on release, but I'd never be "that" excited that I must play day-1, life happens
On the other hand, paying an extra R150 every time you order a commercially available title does add up, and I would not blame the average consumer for trying to save some money.

I know I'd feel less off about it if there was a price match, and free delivery at a certain threshold.

I mean if I can save money, why wouldn't I?

Are there circumstances where I would pay that extra without thinking twice about it, yes. In general there's little reason to do so.

That said, touching on Darkwing's point of eBucks, payment options feel like a lot bigger point than the R50 delivery. Lot of places offering rewards, pay later, etc. Those are big pull points for customers.

For niche titles it's okay. Problem is I play mainly bigger titles. Games are expensive enough as is. If I can save 50 bucks, use my ebucks (which some retailers allow) then I'm definitely going with another retailer.

Basically if I have to choose between paying delivery or not I'm going to go for not paying for delivery. On top of that, I find my Nexus orders are usually delayed. I don't think I've ever received a game on release day which is annoying when you're paying extra for delivery especially. And often you have to ask where it is which I don't think the customer should have to do, that's part of customer service.

Just my 2c here but trust is more important that shipping, Nexus gets the imported niche titles you cant find anywhere else, they keep you updated when theres issues and support is readily available.

Just for that pure customer service, Id pay R50 any day

I don't care about free shipping. Nexus's cost for shipping is low as is. Other retailers cost a lot more.

Robocop’s X-Rated Version has Finally Resurfaced

by Lynley James on 04 October, 2018

    4   5

1987’s Robocop is a classic of sci-fi and satire. The future is a hellscape dominated by corporations, crumbling social services and a cyborg cop trying to do the right thing. This tale is a true cautionary tale, just take a look around much of what that film uses as satire is coming to be, especially the idea of armed drones/robots and outsourcing wars to corporations.

What many of you may not know is that the scenes that made the film the darkly humorous satire was added to the film by director Paul Verhoeven to attain that R-rating. The interspersed news casts, TV ads (“I’d buy that for a dollar”) and other bits and pieces were cut in to replace the scenes that Verhoeven had to cut as they were too violent and resulted in the MPAA giving the film an X-rating, meaning that the film would not get a wide release in mainstream theatres.

Verhoeven had to cut and resubmit it eleven times. The scenes edited were pretty gory and bloody, which is saying something because Robocop was already quite a gory film. One of the scenes edited was Murphy’s death which showed his arm getting blown off, another is when ED-209 kills Kinney (apparently the scene lingers on his body as bullets riddle it) and the final scene where Murphy finally kills Bodiker using his neural spike.

The original trailer is actually quite boring, nowhere nearly as exciting and kinetic as modern trailers. Oh yeah, and you aren't mistaken that theme is the Terminator theme, which if I remember was also a Canon film so they obviously rushed the trailer out to market before the score had been completed.

This cut has been available previously on now out of print Criterion Collection releases as well as the 20th Anniversary edition and the master cut released on Blu-Ray in 2014. For those of you that missed those releases, you can now watch this version via Amazon Prime’s streaming service. For fans of director’s cuts and alternate versions, this is a fascinating look into the Hollywood machine and process.

Recently District 9's Neil Blomkamp announced that he was working on a sequel to the original film, let's hope that he doesn't have to submit it as many times as Verhoeven to get his rating.

I have the uncut version on blu ray.
A masterpiece of a film
DEATHGIGAS
I remember seeing it in the cinemas when it came out in all it's brutal, uncut glory. When the cut versions started rolling around, it really wasn't the same. You could always find the uncut version floating around somewhere, but it's nice to see the movie coming out as it was originally envisioned (minus the 11 cuts that were made before that). Really the only watch to watch this movie. I think it's a testament to Verhoevens skill as a director, and Weller's performance that Robocop never seems silly at all, making the rounds and dispensing justice so stiffly.

I'd buy that for R14.67

Back in the day (1988) there were a VHS copy of “Unedited” version of Robocop doing the rounds. We watched it and for the life of me, I cannot remember what the difference were between the original and this “Unedited” copy.

Can only remember from all the watching and copying the quality started to breakdown….the good old days before the internet and downloads…
