Still have fond memories of a desk in my room with a PC and next to it tiny 4:3 CRT with a PS2 (and later X360) that facilitated endless gaming sessions on a battered but incredibly comfy bean bag.

PS5 DualSense Controller Hands-On Reveal Coming Later Today

by Sam Aberdeen on 17 July, 2020

    1

The PlayStation 5's DualSense controller was the first bit of hardware revealed for Sony's next generation console. The controller does away with the look and style of the PS4's DualShock 4, and instead reinvents the wheel a bit by making it wider and bulkier. Some have drawn comparisons to it resembling the Nacon Revolution Pro controller, albeit with the joysticks perfectly symmetrical. The two-tone black and white matches the final design of the console, finishing off this sleek controller. However, we haven't quite seen it in action as of yet, which is where Geoff Keighley steps in.

Keighley revealed on his social media that he will be presenting the first hands-on reveal of the DualSense controller later today, at 9AM PT / 6PM CAT. We'll hopefully be able to get a better understanding of what the controller looks and feels like, according to Keighley himself. The reveal is scheduled to air later this afternoon as part of the Summer Game Fest showcase. With Xbox's own standalone Xbox Games Showcase coming up on July 23rd, Sony has yet to make an announcement about a follow-up to the PS5 reveal event, where it's speculated they'll reveal the pricing and more exciting game announcements.

This is the #PlayStation5 DualSense Controller. Tomorrow at Noon ET / 9 am PT, it's time to go hands on. Can't wait to tell you about my experience. https://t.co/Hp7WuLrjXk #SummerGameFest pic.twitter.com/hvxTouNrc1

In case you missed our complete breakdown of the DualSense PS5 controller, we discussed the elegant design of the controller; the haptic feedback which allows for a better sense of immersion through more precise feedback rumbles; the adaptive triggers which will, for example, mimic the tension of drawing a bow, with the triggers becoming heavier on the pull with a quick snap out of the arrow; increased battery life, which I'm sure is something everyone with a DualShock 4 can now rejoice over; built-in microphones that eliminates the need for your own microphone; and finally, the "Create" button which basically takes the place of the "Share" button, only evolved to possibly accommodate on-the-fly streaming editing and such. We'll surely learn more about these features later today at Keighley's hands-on time.

PlayStation 5 releases holiday 2020.
