@IkariX I recently Played the Final Fantasy 7 original for the first time After playing FF7 Remake Part 1 and I didnt enjoy the original at all,It wasnt as good as FF8. However My Current favorite FF game so far is FF16.I also feel like you cant really compare the original to the remake trilogy untill the trilogy is complete.

I still can't get over what an amazing game Blood Of Dawnwalker was. I feel depressed now after finishing it. Everything is so well done in the game, side quest and all.

I haven't even touched Rebirth yet lol and I really enjoy the Remake stuff, even more so because it's a sequel to the original, but FF has gone downhill overall imo. Trails is my current favourite JRPG series, and it's really not even a close competition.

No one is stopping you from enjoying the FFVII Reamke games. But my point still stands, it's poorly written fanfiction. First time I played Final Fantasy VII was in 1999. Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil 1(I still have both), were my first 2 PlayStation 1 games. So I've played Final Fantasy VII numerous times over the years. What what the Remake games are, are nothing more than imitators.

It's mass market slop at it's finest. Does it make it terrible games? Not at all, Remake Part 1 was fairly decent. But let's not pretend that any of the remake games are as good as the original. I hope Square Enix doesn't touch Final Fantasy VIII. Because they'll ruin that as well.

@phreak - Dont't get me wrong, many fans have valid criticism's with the game and I respect that. And It sucks when a game you're excited for doesn't hit the way you'd hope. I mean as fans we want to enjoy all entries in our favourite franchises.

I feel that as I'm getting older I rather just enjoy games for what they are.

One thing that I am not happy with is that FFVII Revelation will not be fully on disc, even though physical discs are included.

I'm a pretty hardcore FF fan but if you love the Remake series, as I do, you also kind of have to understand that a lot of contentious decisions were made in the story and it's just not gonna land with some people. I totally get why some folks don't like it or agree with the changes.

I do hope however that the announcement of FFXVII is close, feels like the FF fandom needs a new mainline title to reset after the Remake series lol

Microsoft Patents Xbox Series Property, Suggesting Xbox Series S Model

PlayStation had a big week last Thursday with the unveiling of the PS5 hardware design - the first time we've ever gotten a look at the PS5 in an official capacity. The gaming giant's biggest competitor, Xbox, will also debut their own event in July dedicated to just first-party titles, and the anticipation is mounting for Xbox to make a big impression just like PlayStation. However, one big attractive factor on the PS5 is the Digital Version, a discless PS5 model, giving buyers a couple of options. It seems like Xbox might also offer options at launch as a new patent suggests there'll be more than one Series model.

Discovered by a Spanish website called Xbox Generation, Microsoft recently filed a new patent simply for "Xbox Series", without the X, suggesting that there will be more than one model in the Series line-up. This ignited discussions about there being a possible Xbox Series S model in the works. This patent was filed on June 12th, just one day after PlayStation revealed the PS5 and its two different models. With the first-party event coming up sometime in July, many are wondering if this is a sign that Xbox will finally reveal the "Lockhart" to the "Anaconda", working codenames for Xbox's next-gen consoles. The "Anaconda" has been revealed as the more powerful alternative, Xbox Series X, but will the "Lockhart" be shown soon in the form of the more affordable Xbox Series S model?

It's unknown if this new model will be a less powerful companion to the Xbox Series X or if it will also sport a Digital Version with no disc tray. With the future of gaming pushing us closer to a digital age (and physical slowly fizzling out), perhaps companies will slowly begin to push us more towards digital-only consoles in the generation after next. In terms of these kinds of leaps, PC gaming is at least a generation ahead as they've adopted digital-only gaming without the need for physical. Additionally, with game getting larger install sizes, the need for discs (which can only hold so much data) may one day become useless.

@Lurch That's actually not a bad idea. Right now I'm assuming the PS5 digital will be cheaper than the base model and directed at those lower-income markets (though bizarrely so since it could also cost a good penny to get a stable internet for the digital version to be of any use). The Series S might follow the same route: the more affordable option, but also the more limiting. Just how business goes.

@Sam - with the current beta testing of Project xCloud, maybe a cheaper 1080p focussed digital console that could handle 4k streaming for those who have the connection? Would consider that the best of both worlds and, if they can substantially undercut the pricing of the PS5/Series X, try tap into lower-income markets (albeit probably not on the streaming side).
