I still can't get over what an amazing game Blood Of Dawnwalker was. I feel depressed now after finishing it. Everything is so well done in the game, side quest and all.

I haven't even touched Rebirth yet lol and I really enjoy the Remake stuff, even more so because it's a sequel to the original, but FF has gone downhill overall imo. Trails is my current favourite JRPG series, and it's really not even a close competition.

No one is stopping you from enjoying the FFVII Reamke games. But my point still stands, it's poorly written fanfiction. First time I played Final Fantasy VII was in 1999. Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil 1(I still have both), were my first 2 PlayStation 1 games. So I've played Final Fantasy VII numerous times over the years. What what the Remake games are, are nothing more than imitators.

It's mass market slop at it's finest. Does it make it terrible games? Not at all, Remake Part 1 was fairly decent. But let's not pretend that any of the remake games are as good as the original. I hope Square Enix doesn't touch Final Fantasy VIII. Because they'll ruin that as well.

@phreak - Dont't get me wrong, many fans have valid criticism's with the game and I respect that. And It sucks when a game you're excited for doesn't hit the way you'd hope. I mean as fans we want to enjoy all entries in our favourite franchises.

I feel that as I'm getting older I rather just enjoy games for what they are.

One thing that I am not happy with is that FFVII Revelation will not be fully on disc, even though physical discs are included.

I'm a pretty hardcore FF fan but if you love the Remake series, as I do, you also kind of have to understand that a lot of contentious decisions were made in the story and it's just not gonna land with some people. I totally get why some folks don't like it or agree with the changes.

I do hope however that the announcement of FFXVII is close, feels like the FF fandom needs a new mainline title to reset after the Remake series lol

@phreak - that I understand. Rabid defenders are rarely better than those that hate on a game. If you like a game or series, it makes sense you want to discuss what it could have done better or where it might go in the future.

Think people have become to comfortable with giving simplistic aggressive responses, attaching a strong emotion to it as justification, then calling it a day.

DOOM 64 Blasts Onto the Switch in November

Nintendo's recent Direct brought some welcome news for gamers. Most welcome of all, for me at any rate, was the announcement that DOOM 64 would be coming to the Switch in November.

DOOM 64 was a Nintendo 64 console exclusive developed by Midway Games back in 1997, and hasn't been released anywhere else since. If you didn't have an N64, then you missed out on the best DOOM game ever made. DOOM 64 was essentially DOOM 3 as it took place directly after the events of DOOM 2. Not content to simply port DOOM onto the machine, Midway designed an entirely new gaming experience featuring new sprites, sound effects and special effects for enemies and weapons, and 30+ new levels of mayhem and puzzle solving to blast through.

Bethesda have not announced the game for any other machines, but they haven't outright denied the possibility of it either. A PEGI rating in July for PS4 and PC, along with the recent Australian Classification Board rating for multiple platforms, may yet prove to be true. It's also entirely possible that this may just be a timed exclusive for Switch as it would really be silly to have recently re-released DOOM 1-3 on modern consoles and PC's and then leave this gem out of the collection for everyone but Switch owners. Hopefully we'll know sooner rather than later.

DOOM 64 for Nintendo Switch will launch on November 22nd, 2019. Incidentally the same day as DOOM Eternal launches on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Windows PC and Google Stadia. Lucky Switch owners will be getting a lot of DOOM for their buck.
