Think I saw PlayStation advertising their deals going live today, so I'm guessing PS games and peripherals will be going soon.

Just finished Hellblazer: Bad Blood (4 issue mini). It was written by Jaime Delano (original HB writer), but, curiously, isn't a horror book, unless you count the deification of Princess Diana ;P

Book is set in London in 2025 and is a satire on 90's England, New Labour and the politics of the time. A very good satire that obviously has its roots in early HB issues that were a satirical look at Thatcherite Britain and the mass social and political upheavals of the 80's. An odd addition to the HB books since there is hardly any horror in it but still very good

Just finished Wolverine:Origins - Excellent graphic novel about Logan and his real backstory. How the movie could stuff this up is beyond me.

Superman/Batman: Supergirl - The trade the animated movie Apocalypse is based on. Excellent graphic novel, beautifully drawn by Michael Turner. Theres enough differences between the trade & the movie to warrant owning both. Highly recommended.

Superman VS Predator: Books 1 to 3 - Entertaining if slightly brain dead.

Started reading Daredevil from issue 1. The stories are fun and very simple, but that is only great in small doses. Up to issue 24, can't wait to get to Miller's run, but that is something like 200 issues away.

So DC is rebooting their universe again.

http://blastr.com/2011/06/dc-reboots-every-superher.php

This is about 25 years after Crisis and if we include Zero Hour and Final Crisis it will be the fourth reboot. Seriously what was the point of Final Crisis and 52, which undid Crisis if you are just going to reboot again?

Also DC doesn't seem to have learnt from the post crisis mistakes because they aren't wiping the slate clean, they have said that Brightest Day will still be canon, so again they are mixing old and new continuity.

Ah well at least this will be an easy way for me to get back into DC

Just finished Final Crisis and really wasnt impressed!

Not too happy with the DC relaunch as well. IMO some DC Characters are developed too well to be retconed.(Batman, Nightwing, Red Robin, Oracle, Wonder Woman, Barry Allen Flash)

Though some characters I dont mind like Superman, they made him way too powerful and some toning down in his power may make his adventures more interesting. I always pitched the idea that if Superman were to be rebooted he should be sent to earth as an infant to learn and eventually enslave but he becomes a hero instead. Same mytho except Krypton is not destroyed but a war mongre type planet with his Father as a main villain. Green Lanturn as well, the guardians of the unrelistic huge universe needs to be made smaller.

It will also serve DC's interest to keep to One Reality and maybe only one paralel and no lateral universes. They give the new younger target audience too much credit if DC thinks the youngsters can handle cross issues and multiverses and way too much time travelling.

There alse way too many uncessary characters that they can do without like Captain Atom, Manhunter, C-List Rogues gallery and some B's.

@Bat dude if you think that the current Superman is too powerful you would've hated the pre-Crisis Superman. That guys used to push around planets for fun.

Don't mind the reboot so much since I don't follow any specific DC hero consistently.
Usually just go for the collected trades or HCs done by writers/artists that I like.

I don't mind the reboot as it makes it easier for me to jump into the DCU again. My problem with it is that it comes on the back of a Wonder Woman reboot (JMS' shortened run on WW), an undoing of Crisis which was supposed to clean up the DCU back in '86 with Infinite Crisis and major universe changing storylines in Blackest Night and Brightest Day. This all adds up to a company running towards the next big company wide event, which Marvel does as well so don't get me started on Civil War etc, and sucking their fans dry. If they really, REALLY wanted a reboot, an Ultimate style universe would have been better.

They even started messing with the Vertigo line and reintroduced Swamp Thing and Constantine, but these are not the Vertigo characters but new ones, which adds to the confusion.

DC are running around like headless chickens and the fact that they are keeping some bits of old continuity is a sure sign that this is going to end in a mess. Take a look at the relaunch in '87 where they rebooted some characters like SUperman but not WW and that just added to continuity issues going forward.

Huh? Even messing with Vertigo? Makes me glad so many of those works end conclusively.

It's almost impossible to keep up with anything these days, hence why I much prefer one-shots over long stories.
Only really long trade I'm keen on keeping up with is the Amazing Spidey reboot and Ultimate Spidey.
Slightly hypocritical considering Brand New Day rebooted Amazing and I believe Ultimate is also undergoing some sort of change.

@Surreal BND was k@k and was an in continuity reset of Spidey and can be undone as it was a spell or something that changed what everyone knew of him, kinda like House of M and I don't like either.

A line wide reboot without the FULL reboot runs the risk of the issues DC had after Crisis in that half the books are rebooted and half weren't causing all sorts of unintentional consequences. SPidey will have similar issues, but they won't affect the whole line just his books, so they are easier to fix. By mixing a line wide event in Brightest and Blackets Days with an entire rebooted universe you just multiply that problem ten fold.
The other problem I have is publishers rebooting entire lines to get the first issue sales boost and the fact that they are now jumping from one event to another instead of just telling good stories and once in a while doing a line wide crossover. For many fans to have to buy up to 10 extra books a month just to keep up with a story is insane.

DC only messed with Vertigo in that they have introduced a main DCU version of Constantine and Swamp Thing. The Vertigo stuff still stays as a separate continuity, but how I don't know as both books and Sandman have established themselves as being part of the main DCU through various little stories and references over the years. There was just an unwritten rule that the DCU books wouldn't touch 'em and that they would be excluded from crossovers etc. Now DC have introduced a YOUNGER version of Constantine into the DCU, so we have two Constantines for some reason. Not sure if the same applies to Swamp Thing.

Read Supergirl: Identity, last night.

Very good comic actually, makes a good follow up to Superman/Batman: Supergirl, though you can see its set a litle later in the DC timeline. Basically its a story about Supergirl trying to find herself and where she belogs in the world. Each chapter has a different art style, from the classic Michael Turner take on her to some more cartoony versons. All in all a solid read.
