Spider-Men

Loooooooved this. Peter interacting with Miles was fantastic. The moments between Peter and his Ultimate family were magnificent. Dialog was great with chuckles aplenty.
Amazing art, Sarah Pichelli is definitely one of the best artists working today.
Great book overall. About my only complaint is that the way Peter travels between worlds is used solely as a throwaway plot device (along with one possible mistake that I need to double check), and they leave some blatant cliffhangers for a possible (likely?) sequel.

Fantastic! I loved it, yet was disappointed at the same time because it needed to be longer. There was just so much to deal with that was skipped over. Still it was fantastic.

As for a sequel, rumours have it Marvel may be canning the Ultimate Universe and that Miles may take a jump to the Amazing Spidey one.

Can't say I want to see Ultimate Spider-man end at all, but if this is done right and Bendis keeps writing, I'll keep reading.

Can't possibly screw it up more than the Superior Spider-Man arc. . .

@DG: Yup I've heard the same rumors and I'm super stoked. I haven't read Ultimate Spidey properly yet, only caught a bit of Miles here and there, but from what I have read, I absolutely love him.
Hope he gets a solo title and Bendis stays on as writer. The guy has major influence at Marvel, so I'm sure if that's what he wants, that's what he'll get.

I'm still on board with Superior, though I haven't read any more of it yet . Waiting for the OHCs to come.
The prospect of a Miles/SpOck meetup gives me goosebumps. The good kind.

That would be interesting. You should really read Ultimate Spider-man, right from the beginning, some of the best writing in comics period!

I'm trying to collect them all even though I've already read them, they're just that good.

@DG That's the plan. Since I have hardcover OCD I'm looking for the oversized volumes they released of the original Ult. Spidey run, which as I'm sure you know are a bit scarce, practically non-existent locally, and only available 2nd hand overseas, so as of yet I haven't managed to get any.

Though I'm hoping to grab the first few when the in-laws go to the states in December .
Fortunately there're only one or two volumes that go above $50 2nd hand, the rest are pretty cheap.

Preacher vol 2

Found this to be quite a step up from the first trade. Once you get over (what some may call) the novelty of Ennis' progressive storytelling, there is something really amazing happening. The arc with Jesse's estranged, psychotic family, and the exposition on his relationship with Tulip were really great. Loved some of the panels, particularly Jesse's conversations with his 'friend' who I'm dying to know more about.
Also glad to see a larger plot come to light, and glad that other aspects of the plot came into play much sooner than I expected.

Preacher vol 3

Jesse is a bad ass. That is all.
Ok well not quite. A solid volume, gets straight to the point and is just pure unadulterated fun from start to finish.
The dialog had me chuckling quite a few times. The final issue in the trade was the only drab one, and only because up to that point you have nothing but ball-busting, wise cracking, knuckle dragging, gloriously blasphemous moments, so when you then go into a background story with heavy dialog and character introspection, it feels like you just hit the proverbial brake.
It does make sense to have it at the end though, and it does prove for an interesting segway into the next arc, which I'm certainly dying to read.

Great, great book.

Not as bad as some of the other Predtaor and Aliens crossovers that have been done.

Seriously though, you can see why it gets such high praise. Nothing else like it out there, even today. I can also go quickly through all of it since I don't have other volumes to wait for, so no need to pace myself when I'm craving the next book (looking at you Locke & Key).

Started the Age of Apocalypse. It's still a bit confusing.

@SavageSloth: Dude, X-men has one of the most complicated, expanded storylines ever created. There were so many crossovers and titles in the late 80s -> early 90s that it can get incredibly confusing.

I'm not even going to bother with it until I can start from the beginning.

Thankfully there's quite a large stack of easily attainable (albeit pricey) collected editions that you can follow from the start of what's considered the definitive X-Men run (Chris Claremont's run), to today.

Anyway, if anyone is curious to know more, check this link out for an immensely comprehensive guide to reading X-Men, even if you just pick up graphic novels rather than singles.

Re-reading the whole Foundation Series

Shadowhawk: Out of The Shadows.

Morbius: The Living Vampire - Looks, feels and reads like a 90's comic. . . And not in the good way. Totally skippable.

Hawkeye 01 - Interesting, I suppose. Which is a lot to say for the least interesting Avenger today. Hawkeye, as a character was a better and far more interesting character in the late 80's. This Avengers movie reboot version of him is terribly dull.

Daredevil End of Days
Not bad, the art is spectacular though the story has some shortfalls. I've never read any Daredevil, though I'll be getting the Miller, Brubaker and Bendis runs, so this was my first story of his, and I imagine you get more out of it if you've read Bendis' DD.
Biggest complaint was how they make such a big deal out Bullseye but then just dismiss him. That and the final pay off seemed a bit weak. Again, I'm sure it's more impactful if you've kept up with the character. I'll re-read it someday.

Wolverine (1-4 and the Uncanny follow up)
The Miller issues? Amazing. The artwork is fantastic, Miller's layouts alone are just so well done that each page flows as smoothly as the story. Storywise it's also very cool, considering this established Wolverine as a AAA character. The internal monologues can get a bit cumbersome, but it's a solid story.
Then you get the follow up. Still written by Claremont, but drawn by someone else trying way too hard to mimic Miller's style which just ends up looking like a poor imitation. Story is pretty meh, but the most irritating part is that it doesn't conclude properly, which makes no sense printing it collected to begin with.
They should've left it as just the 4 issue short, or included all the subsequent issues.
Though in general collecting X-Men isn't the easiest thing around so maybe this was the best way they could it.
