Thor: Love and Thunder Will Be Set Before Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
Thor: Love and Thunder was announced as part of Phase 4 of the MCU, but there is still no confirmation on when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 will be released. However, we do know that the next installment of Thor will be set before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as confirmed by director, James Gunn.

I honestly thought that the third installment of the Guardians would be before Thor: Love and Thunder, as this would somehow develop into an intricate story from there – along with the announced cast not featuring any of the Guardians. We know that Thor is currently with the Guardians, so it’s possible that all could change into the Guardians being added into Thor, especially with most of them having had experience in the multiverse. We will need to wait, however, as Gunn has apologised to Marvel fans via Twitter, that he will be focusing on The Suicide Squad, before the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
We know that Natalie Portman will be the new Mighty Thor, or “Lady Thor”, mimicking that of the classic comics possibly. It will be interesting to see what universe this story might unfold in and to what extent Hemsworth’s Thor would/could affect it. There could also be a link to Loki, possibly meddling around with the tesseract, which may influence how events pan out possibly. There are other Phase 4 multiverse speculations - but one thing is for sure; MCU Phase 4 is looking fantastic with a plethora of movies, as well as series to look forward to, as a Marvel fanatic.
Thor: Love and Thunder is currently set for 5 November 2021. With Hemsworth returning as Thor along with Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), and hopefully everyone’s favourite, Korg, played by returning director, Taika Waititi himself. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has no set date at the moment, unfortunately, but is confirmed by James Gunn to be in the pipeline soon, maybe in the back-end of Phase 4 or even the start of Phase 5.
