Razer Co-Founder Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff Has Passed Away
Razer co-founder Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff has died at the age of 81, as reported by Razer, who also stated that the company’s co-founder passed away on April 26th 2022.
Krakoff was a major player in bringing the first gaming mouse to the market in the shape of the Razer Boomslang. He was affectionately known as “RazerGuy” across the internet.

Krakoff founded Razer with the current CEO of Razer Min-Lian Tan in 2005 after the original company that was creating the Boomslang went bankrupt. Razer has since gone on to become one of the largest gaming peripheral manufacturers whose portfolio covers gaming mice, keyboards, and headsets, along with other wacky peripherals such as smart masks introduced during Covid-19.

The community recognised Krakoff as a kind and approachable person who treated players, enthusiasts, and any professional in the industry equally no matter who they were, or how well known they were. When Razer was still in its early days, every product sold included a message from Krakoff – something that Razer still does to this day albeit from a broad company perspective – with his direct email address (razerguy@razerzone), encouraging fans to offer direct feedback.
Krakoff has even been credited by some for their entire careers such as the current senior director of Red Bull esports, Travis Wannlund. Jerry Paxton from GamingShogun also recounts how Krakoff took a chance on his new site after almost everyone else had rejected him.
Robert Krakoff was also a professional football player for the Los Angeles Rams in ’60s and even created his own line of health and nutritional supplements while praising the benefits of health and fitness. Below you can see an ad featuring Krakoff promoting the Razer Boomslang. Who knows where we would be without the mind of RazerGuy – perhaps still stuck in a sea of beige PC peripherals.
Krakoff is survived by his wife, two children, and five grandchildren.
