Need For Speed: Heat was revealed yesterday, and the trailer showcased what 25 years worth of Need For Speed would look like. That being said, the trailer wasn't the only thing that EA made public about the latest NFS installment.

For those who want to know more about the story, EA sent out a press release detailing some of the aspects of Need For Speed: Heat. We already knew that it would be a darker story than we are used to, but it would appear that EA are putting the focus on the cops, just like the old days. The police are clearly villain in this story. During the day, players will use Palm City to compete in Speedhunters Showdown, a closed race where people earn "Bank" to further improve their cars. However, things change at night, where players risk everything to build their "Rep" in underground races. The stakes are raised even higher, as a rogue police task force goes above the law to hunt down racers and take their earnings. For those unaware, the Cross-inspired policeman screaming at the screen for your keys is known as Lieutenant Mercer, who we will get to know more about as the story progresses.

Speedhunters Showdown races bring back ProStreet PTSD flashbacks
"We're delivering more options than ever before for players to be unique and make themselves known," said Riley Cooper, Creative Director at Ghost Games. "Our fans have been clear that they want more cars, more customization, and more challenges, and we're tuning up on every aspect. From your character's style to your car's performance and your driving style, we're fueling everyone's creativity with this new game." It would appear that developer Ghost Games knows just how much is on the line for their new game. We just hope that the game isn't going to have an identity crisis with all the various aspects they are focusing on.
That being said, there are some pre-order incentives for those who simply cannot wait to play the next Need For Speed. Players who pull the trigger early on Heat will get a K.S Edition styled Mitsubishi Evolution X. Pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition adds three K.S Edition styled cars (BMW i8 Coupe, Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport), access to exclusive deluxe edition character clothing, and increased earnings of in-game currencies Bank and Rep. Anyone who pre-orders Need for Speed: Heat in-game from Need for Speed Payback on any format will also get a 10% discount as a loyalty reward.

Need For Speed: Heat box art seems to be inspired by the last sequence in the reveal trailer.
The box artn(which can be found below) seems to confirm that the Polestar 1 is the poster car for Heat. The art seems to be taken from the ending of the reveal trailer, and we can assume that Lt. Mercer is driving that stunning Corvette. That being said, the 80s aesthetic still confuses us, considering that the trailer is more about high-octane racing than it is about Miami beach vacations. Hopefully, EA can shed some light on that decision closer to the game's launch.
Need for Speed: Heat launches November 8, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with EA Access giving players early-access to then game on 5 November, 2019.
Will defend anything Dragon Ball. Occasionally has two-way conversations with himself. Has sleepless nights about Half-Life 3 confirmed.
