At the recent Nintendo Direct Mini, Capcom made a couple of surprise announcements by revealing not only one, but two Monster Hunter games coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch next year (one of which being Monster Hunter Stories 2). The biggest new reveal is the next flagship Switch-exclusive Monster Hunter, simply titled Monster Hunter Rise. Taking full advantage of the Nintendo Switch hardware capabilities, Monster Hunter Rise will introduce a variety of new features and allow for more seamless exploration between zones as previously seen in Monster Hunter World.

Monster Hunter Rise's one new unique feature is the Wirebug. Players will be able to traverse more vertically up steep mountains with the Wirebug (which works similarly to the Clutch Claw), only it allows maneuverability while exploring the maps too. This can also be chained into combos with your weapon when fighting monsters, giving you a lot more options during combat. A new map was also introduced, called the Shrine Ruins. A new travel buddy next to the Palico also makes an appearance: the Canyne, who offers a bit more offensive capabilities in battle.
