Ghost of Tsushima's Upcoming Rivals Mode Gets A New Trailer
Last October, Sony launched Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a multi-player project from studio Sucker Punch, that expanded on the gameplay of Ghost of Tsushima into a supernatural world inspired by Japanese mythology. Now, the studio revealed a new trailer for the upcoming free update that adds the new Rivals mode and a Gear Mastery System.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is a standalone game for those who do not want to experience the campaign, but the game is free to download if you own a copy of Ghost of Tsushima. With the Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut a mere two weeks away, an update to Legends is a fantastic way to bring more people into the game.
In Rivals, two teams of two will compete to defeat waves of enemies. With each defeated foe, you'll collect Magatama that you can use to harm the other team. You can spend your Magatama on Shades to block your opponent's purchases, Curses(health drain, exploding bodies, etc), Hwacha fire, and more. Once you’ve spent enough Magatama, you’ll unlock Final Stand waves. If you complete these before the opposing team, you win.
Alongside Rivals, there is a new expansion into the progression systems and rewards for Legends. Players who have earned 110-level gear will now be able to bind it to a class and activate "Mastery Challenges". This will allow a piece of gear's Ki level to be upgraded to 120 and eventually unlock a second perk slot. As you activate Mastery Challenges, you can also unlock Techniques and Ability for each class.
That being said Sucker Punch released a smaller patch prior to the big update, which tweaks some things and offers some balance to Legends. The update includes improved load times for viewing cosmetics in menus on PlayStation 5, restored colour button prompts, various Legends adjustments, and additional bug fixes.
