I haven't even touched Rebirth yet lol and I really enjoy the Remake stuff, even more so because it's a sequel to the original, but FF has gone downhill overall imo. Trails is my current favourite JRPG series, and it's really not even a close competition.

No one is stopping you from enjoying the FFVII Reamke games. But my point still stands, it's poorly written fanfiction. First time I played Final Fantasy VII was in 1999. Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil 1(I still have both), were my first 2 PlayStation 1 games. So I've played Final Fantasy VII numerous times over the years. What what the Remake games are, are nothing more than imitators.

It's mass market slop at it's finest. Does it make it terrible games? Not at all, Remake Part 1 was fairly decent. But let's not pretend that any of the remake games are as good as the original. I hope Square Enix doesn't touch Final Fantasy VIII. Because they'll ruin that as well.

@phreak - Dont't get me wrong, many fans have valid criticism's with the game and I respect that. And It sucks when a game you're excited for doesn't hit the way you'd hope. I mean as fans we want to enjoy all entries in our favourite franchises.

I feel that as I'm getting older I rather just enjoy games for what they are.

One thing that I am not happy with is that FFVII Revelation will not be fully on disc, even though physical discs are included.

I'm a pretty hardcore FF fan but if you love the Remake series, as I do, you also kind of have to understand that a lot of contentious decisions were made in the story and it's just not gonna land with some people. I totally get why some folks don't like it or agree with the changes.

I do hope however that the announcement of FFXVII is close, feels like the FF fandom needs a new mainline title to reset after the Remake series lol

@phreak - that I understand. Rabid defenders are rarely better than those that hate on a game. If you like a game or series, it makes sense you want to discuss what it could have done better or where it might go in the future.

Think people have become to comfortable with giving simplistic aggressive responses, attaching a strong emotion to it as justification, then calling it a day.

I will never deny that the FF7 remake games have good graphics, runs well and a great combat system.
Those parts are really well done. It's other things I don't like

Won't deny you that ever. Hope you love it.
I'm just tired of being insulted for not liking changes I feel are disrespectful to the original. Changes I won't talk about here due to spoilers.

Final Fantasy XIV Surpasses 10 Million Players Worldwide

Square Enix’s MMORPG and fourteenth official entry in the Final Fantasy series, Final Fantasy XIV, has surpassed 10 million players worldwide on PlayStation 4 and PC.

After the release of the latest expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, Square Enix were quick to break the news that the MMORPG is doing impressive player numbers globally.

Final Fantasy XIV, like it’s acclaimed follow-up Final Fantasy XV, had a rocky development history. First teased at E3 2005, the game was officially announced as an MMORPG at E3 2009. According to Square Enix, XIV was meant to be a rival to Blizzard’s behemoth MMORPG, World of Warcraft. However, the initial poor reception of the release caused the developer to rebuild the game from the ground-up and re-release it as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in 2013. The game spawned two successful expansions; Heavensward and Stormblood.

I would play this if it wasn't for the monthly sub on top of the cost of the game. I know that WoW is the same, but all these MMORPGs that have a sub get it wrong IMO. Rather buy a set number of hours that you can use over whatever reasonable period you like rather than buy a 90 day sub that expires after 90 days whether you played during that period or not
