Bethesda’s re-releases of DOOM and DOOM II have just received some serious patching. Developer Nerve has had their work cut out for them on bringing these games up to date as the original re-release version suffered from framerate and lighting issues.

Both games' newest patches not only fix these problems, but adds some great new content to the game along with quality of life improvements that just make this (E)ternal series well, eternal.
First up is the fix for both games framerates which now run at 60fps on all platforms, a big step up from the games original 35fps framerate. The quality of life features support better level selection, a Quick Weapon Select feature, added Aspect Ratios, Brightness options, a split screen HUD and quick save functionality while paused by pressing R/R1/RB. Loading up that quick save is as easy as pausing the game and then pressing L/L1/LB.
The best feature, though, is the support for Add-Ons. Basically you can select from any WADS (expansions) that Bethesda choose to make available for the game from here, thus adding in even more demon slaying play time to an already lengthy shooter. All add-ons will be free for the foreseeable future. Currently three add-ons are available for download and activation with more coming in the future as Bethesda interface with the community to bring the best DOOM WADS to the game. The add-ons you can select right now are Sigil, John Romero’s unofficial fifth DOOM episode that was released last year, TnT: Evilution and The Plutonia Experiment which were packaged as the 32 level Final Doom installment back in 1996.
