Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Upgrades Arrive in Second Half of 2021
CD Projekt Red, following the release of the now infamous Cyberpunk 2077, has had a lot to work on these past few months. Recently, the studio released a gargantuan 1.2 update for the game that provided nearly 500 fixes. Their hard work hasn't stopped there, though, as they're now promising free DLC and paid expansions to come for Cyberpunk 2077. In their latest strategy update, though, CD Projekt Red decided to move back the next-gen updates for both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to the second half of 2021.

As revealed in their new roadmap, CD Projekt Red confirmed that they will release the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrades for both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 in the second half of 2021, moving it out of its originally planned early 2021 window. This allows them to continue tweaking and improving Cyberpunk 2077 with more updates and patches before the big next-gen update, while also making good on their promises for free DLC and massive paid expansions.

In addition to these roadmaps, CD Projekt Red have also provided another one for the future of Cyberpunk 2077:
Unfortunately, we won't be getting any paid expansions to Cyberpunk 2077 until at least 2022, as this year will be dedicated to patching up the game on all platforms, as well as delivering on the next-gen upgrade. CD Projekt Red also confirmed that their standalone multiplayer Cyberpunk game will not release as their next AAA title anymore. Instead, the company will now work on bringing the online component into all of their franchises one day.
CD Projekt Red made a lot of big announcements recently about the future proofing of their studio and projects. The public reception still remains mixed on this news, with many backing the company's aspirations, while others understandably being burnt by Cyberpunk 2077's rocky launch and the studio's dishonesty in marketing.
Cyberpunk 2077 is now available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
