I reached the 100 KMS walked goal this weekend.
Few things I learned from the game -
If you want a gym taker / powerful Pokémon, use the common, easy to find ones. It’s easier to find then and to get candy for them.
Its great to have a rare or hard to find Pokémon in your collection however levelling then up or even evolve them is difficult.
I take Pikachu, he only got level to evolve and you need 100 candies to evolve. The only way to gain extra candies is to catch more of the same Pokemons.
On each catch you get 3 candies [on average] and one candy if you trade the Pokémon in to the Professor. So to evolve Pikachu you will need to catch 25 Pikachu. We not even looking into the quantity to level him up.
The higher level you reach, the harder is to catch them. I am on level 34 and each Pokémon I encounter is above 100 CP and on average I now need 2 to 3 normal Pokeballs to catch them.
So stock up on balls…

I have used the lures yet. Saving them for my nephews.
My approach has been more focused on walking. On 90/100 km. Not too focused on leveling super quick as much as I am that the game should get me outside and walking![]()
Although I do agree 100% using an XP egg and evolving are the way to go. Last time I did this I went up 2 levels. I got a bunch of pidgey waiting for my next evolve session![]()

I notice in the last two days more and more new Pokemons appearing.
I caught 8 Gastly’s since yesterday and a Psyduck…

That's pretty cool if they are changing things aroundI think something like a monthly or quarterly change of spawn points would keep things interesting.
I travel a bit for work. Today, whilst riding the shuttle into the parking lot, I found this bad boy
It helps to travel hehe![]()

I discovered something during a gym battle last night.
Some may know this, but I did not.
When you battling, pressing the screen fast does the normal attacks. Sliding you finger left to right on the screen enable the dodge.
However pressing on the screen and holding you finger on the screen activates the special attack. Now this only happens once the power bar (the white squares) under the health bar is filled up.
The faster you attach the opposing Pokémon, the faster your power bar fills up.
I took out a 1200 CP Pokémon with a 900 CP Pokémon, just by using the special attacks.
