But with that said - Everything seems to be on track for March Releases

Hey All,

Just a quick heads up as we tend to forget about global events and how they impact the release of gaming and tech products in SA.

With the events happening in the middle east, normal flight and logistic services may be interupted for new releases making their way to SA. The distributors are working hard to make sure their releases arent impacted, but there is always a chance.

MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN 2

GOTY, without question.

Definitely going to do a NG+ run when that update drops, but for now am wrapping up the remaining side missions and collectibles.

The game just keeps on giving. Not that I'm complaining

After this, I'll continue my RESIDENT EVIL 4 NG+. Only a few chapters left and I want the Primal Knife.

Once that's done...not sure. Probably take a a break from gaming for a while.

Is the map still as cluttered with side stuff as the first game? Miles Morales was better, but Spidey 1 could not go a city block without some interruption

They've definitely addressed the open world bloat.

Like, some things won't appear on your map at all unless you swing through and explore the districts, and I never felt overwhelmed or bombarded by things to do. Feels manageable and organic.

Also, the side quests/activities, while fewer in number, are way more memorable than those in the previous games.

Great game, back to basics. Back to being an assassin, hiding in the shadows ect. If you enjoyed the first 2 games, you will enjoy this one.
Map is small compared to the last few games, & not that much to do. But thats a good thing, Mirage is more focused.
Great story as well, that ending!
Final boss fight was a joke though lol
Also no more animus sections.

METAL GEAR SOLID

Normal difficulty.
Played it on the VITA and had a really solid time (barring that Liquid fight at the end, which kicked my a** a hundred different ways. Holy cow!!)

That was probably my last game for the year as I'm getting back into reading.

Rocky Legends
PS2.
Remember it being hard, but damn!!
Authentic Rocky experience, clips from the movies, the songs & likeness of the actors. Play as Rocky, Creed, Drago & Clobber Lang.
But the grind is real. Got to beat 20 jobbers, before you get to the main fights.
& match rounds can go up to 15 rounds a match.

Robocop: Rogue City

If you could look past the jank and enjoy the visuals, music, and atmosphere of Teyon's Terminator: Resistance, this is a must-play. Solid story with narrative choices that change how characters interact but not the missions; better shooting with fewer RPG elements; and they've nailed the presentation again with incredible variants of the original theme. My biggest issue is the campaign often feels like it was stuck together as they went and some cutscenes in the final missions feel so crude they wouldn't look out of place in a mid-2000s FPS.

The Last Guardian (a 7/10 for me)

A great story with so many touching moments and incredible animations - the problem is rough gameplay by modern standards (and even by 2016 standards!). I like the idea of Trico becoming more responsive as his bond with the boy grows but you spend so much time just waiting around for it to take the right actions (or, even worse, watching it go the wrong way) and when you're controlling just the boy, you have to deal with really stiff movement and climbing controls. A mix of enthralling and frustrating.

I agree with you regarding the gameplay. The Last Guardian would be damn near close to a 9 were it not let down by awkward, clunky controls, because it's visually and thematically compelling, otherwise.

Lies of P- Such a floorless game, the game had some of the best boss battles since Elden ring. The Story is Dark and full of twists and turns. The game does a great job of making you feel like a real bad ass. I got two endings and will attempt the third one at some point, just need to finish Alan wake 2 now.

Played it day 1 on the PS3.
Replayed the remaster now on the PS4, even better.
Don't know how GTA6 will better this, beside graphics.

Good maps, but I remember the other games being better.
AI was a bit all over the place as well.
Will replay the second game soon, remember it being the best,

Baldurs Gate 3 - No wonder it won Game of the Year. For those who haven't played it yet, please do so. So well written, I sobbed concluding the stories of certain characters. Immediately started my second play-through. Will get to Phantom Liberty *eventually*

Never played the others, so story wise I was a bit lost.
Some of the worlds were great, like Toy Story & Big Hero 6. & some like Frozen & Rapunzel, not so much.
Pirates was by far the best world. They even got all the actors likenesses.
Also preferred the Pirates Keyblade.

Control. Starts of well but stagnates by the middle. Getting to the end was a slogfest (possibly because this was the complete version. Not sure I understood the ending

Arkham Asylum. Still so so good. But finally starting to feel dated

Ratchet & Clank (2016) -

Another shameful backlog entry I'm sure I got for free during some PlayStation PSN promotion, then still ignored for years despite loving the original and Future trilogies.

As a movie tie-in, it works well enough with the new characters. And damn, what a visual overhaul. The store description claiming it has visuals akin to the movie is almost true to the point you'd need to nitpick.to complain. It also feels a lot like the RE4 remake in how the first half feels incredibly true to the original before it starts surprising you with the changes.

It's also still a lot of fun, especially with the option for traditional shooting controls and a few gadgets/weapons brought returning from the later games. I know some people complained about a few missing planets but that was probably for the best as it also reminded me how formulaic the stage-by-stage 3D action platformer template could feel and would probably have overstayed its welcome.

Batman: Arkham Knight

A game that was two-thirds good to great, but also way too long with a third of the "Most Wanted" activities - needed for the true ending - repetitive and blatant filler.

Thoroughly enjoyed how it wrapped up a few Arkhamverse character arcs, both heroes and villains (especially with the Season of Infamy DLC content integrated). I was initially skeptical of them finding a way to make The Joker once again a central theme but it was smartly handled - albeit leaving the Scarecrow and Arkham Knight's plot to reveal Batman's identity and destroy his persona feeling like a sideshow.

The free-flow and gadget-heavy combat was better than ever, especially during battles where you team up with allies. Traversing Gotham sitting by grapple or bat-tank was fun, with great visuals and atmosphere. Even the bat-tank sections were fine outside of the races.

It's just a shame the Riddler activities and clearing out the Arkham Knight's forces relied on repetitive and boring missions that repopulate the map like 4-5 times between major story beats. I was so fatigued by the end, I just Youtube-d the true ending to avoid finishing the riddler challenges, completed The Matter of Family prequel DLC with Batgirl and Robin, and called it a (30-hour) night.

Finished up Judgement. Like most of the Yakuza games, the main story is a drama and can get very long in the tooth. To many twists and sacrifice. The side quests and mini games make it much more funny and bearable. The game had a lot of faults though. Very slow SP gain, annoying amount of running and missing quite a bit of essential "quality of life" details.
Would still rate it a 7/10 (5 being average). Since it's free on PS plus, it gets an 8. They also included some "cheat" items that made the game bearable, especially some of the boss battles. stupid difficulty spikes....

Struggling through Red Dead Redemption 2 made me love the original even more. ALl the proof you need that cinematic and immersive do not necessarily make for good gameplay.

If you've not played it, Undead Nightmare adds about another 10-ish hours of fairly entertaining adventuring (infected animal hunts aside) styled as a fever dream.
