Morning.

Have to say..impressed with Ghost of Yotei after that showcase.
Gameplay, graphics. ect looks great.
Fighting also looks way more smooth now.

Definitly playing it with the Japanese du band subtitles.
Like Yakuza/Like a Dragon and Tsushima it just feels wrong to play it with the EN dub. lol

Starfield

Yeahhhh... I'm calling it quits. Playtime's around 30 hours.

My main gripe is the sheer amount of meandering and tedious dialogue in this game. The gameplay and mission design basically revolves around the loop of talking and shooting. Therefore, the quests become highly repetitive. The usually pattern goes: Talk to this important person, ok they want something first, go get that thing, fight (the same) groups of bandits, now return.

I no longer feel bothered to explore the procedurally-generated planets, and the game's atmosphere feels cold and distant (when compared to something like, say, Skyrim.)

A shame, as Starfield started out so strong. Oh well.

Isn't this the gameplay loop for most games these days? I sometimes just skip the dialogue completely. Just point me in the right direction and I will kill stuff until I get new instructions

That's true, and I have a feeling that this is how many people play Starfield

But, for me, if the game is boring to the extent that I want to quit, I'd rather just go off and...play something good, lol

Elden Ring

Definitely in my top 10 games list. Probably even top 5. No question.

In terms of world design, Elden Ring is to the fantasy setting what Red Dead 2 is to the Wild West. Both are beautifully realised, expansive yet in-depth simulators of their respective settings. Both share a richness and authenticity that is not often seen in this medium.

I'll cherish my memories of Elden Ring forever.

And you get to do it all over again when the DLC comes out

Seriously tho, considering how big and stuffed the base game is, how huge is the final going to be?

The Amazing Spiderman 2
75% complete
Better then expected, just like with the first Amazing Spiderman game.
The only thing that it has in common with the movie is a boss fight with Electro & another with Green Goblin.
Otherwise, Kraven, Kingpin & Carnage are there.
If you played the game, then watched the movie. You would be very disappointed lol.

Put so many hours into those games

Lost Judgement.
75 Hours Including School stories.
Great game, some inconsistent difficulty spikes but you can usually cheese them.
With all the DLC it really feels more like 1.5 games, so the storylines and pacing can get a bit muddled.
Def worth the price at the moment!
Now just going to tool around in the Kaito files

@Fantomex - Congrats on getting that far. Made 50 hours in Starfield for review purposes and enjoyed the opening campaign missions, United COlonies faction quests, and the Ryujin Industries cyberpunk-ish quests. But yeah, it's too much running back and forth without that awesome sense of exploring a new and continuous space like in The Elder Scrolls games. Reducing most of the main missions to hunting down identical temples on boring proc-gen worlds was a terrible choice.

Sniper Elite V2 Remaster
7hours 30mins
Still my fav Sniper game, besides the Zombie ones.
Prefer the more linier levels, also the kill cam is more satisfying.
The DLC is 4 challenge maps, one of them being assassinate Hitler. Which was very disappointing.
He runs from hiding spot, to hiding spot. Have to have the reflexes of Bullseye or Deadshot to snipe him on the move. Ended up sniping him in the foot, that was sticking out from behind cover lol

Terminator Resistance
Played on PS4, fantastic!!!!
Reviewers boomed this game, don't know why?
Takes place before the first movie in the future. Basically sets up the first 2 movies. Voice acting is not great, but gets the job done.
Its a loot & shoot, with some hacking & lock picking.
Each level has a decent size map, with side quests.
Game looks good, but will probably look better on new gen.
Zero bugs, runs smoothly.
Easy platinum as well.

@KF500 - It was one of those perfect 7/10s for me. I loved the way the story worked with the existing lore, the atmosphere, the designs, and an incredible soundtrack, the gameplay felt like a simplified Fallout 4 with equally bland shooting (oh, and those first-person sex scenes were just...).

Good remaster, game looks great.
But why not put the Duke Nukem DLC on the disc

@KF500 - loved it on the X360 and totally worth another remastered playthrough. I've seen the Duke Nukem DLC go cheaply several times so will give that a go one day. Would love to see a sequel but they've apparently botched the VR version of the first game, so no idea if it'll generate enough interest any more.

Steel rising. Yeah... Just rushed it towards the end. Around the midway point the game gets "side quests" which are really just irritating fetch quests. Go to hub, go back to town, go to hub, go back to town, but just the house next door. Pacing is just stupid and the bad story telling does not help. Pity really as the combat was actually fun. Feels like they ran out of money and just desperately tried to salvage things. At least the game was free

@Teb - Always keen to support Spiders (albeit mostly waiting on Greedfall 2) but my tolerance for 'Souls-like games has waned with age. Is SteelRising fairly easy in comparison of on part with Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Elden Ring?

A LOT EASIER.

The two most powerfull weapons are given to you in the first stage (Nemesis claws - super fast with stagger and counterattacks and Charleville 1789 Shield Musket - Gun with freezing that can cheese 90% of bosses)

Apart from some dodgy hitboxes the combat is fun and fast.
I managed to finish it and some bosses could not touch me. Playing fast and staggering the enemies is way OP.

Tomb Raider II Remastered -

Aspyr seems up and down with the quality of remasters but the Tomb Raider trilogy is excellent - probably because they hired a modder who was overhauling them already. Not the best game in the series nor the best sequel (with all the gunfights against hit-scan enemies) but I still love its mix of actual tombs and weird, contrived man-made tombs. Next up TRIII, which was always a weird mix of great and awful levels.

Resident Evil 3. Couldn't remember if I played it before, ended up finishing it in 7 hours. Good for free, but I would have been hacked of if I payed full price. Old school frustrations and cheapness

I wasn't a fan of the more linear opening, but I did like the changes from the Hospital onwards. Like the RE2 remake, it'll never completely replace the originals, even if Capcom has done its best to pretend those never existed since (why have they not come to PS+ as emulated PS1 Classics for the PS4/5 like the first game did?).

And yeah, this should have been 1/2 to 2/3rds the price but they bundled it in with that 4-vs-1 RE Resistance multiplayer game that I'm assuming is long since dead.

It does feel a bit like a tech demo. "This is what it could look like with today's graphics!"
But the game is terribly short and just feels half finished, especially after RE 4 Remake.

The pacing between sequences is jarring, taking you from running for your life, to just chilling in a room after slamming a door. The monster can go through walls, but eh, let's take a break. When suddenly! Spiders! Which we never see again.

Guess they assume you know the story?

Still working through the side content after going back to an earlier save. Most optional hauntings are intriguing and flesh out Red and Antea's relationship, but I wish they'd designed it so you could clear an area and move on.

It had such an excellent sense of momentum and the feeling of being on an epic journey eastward, and then when you hit the mid-point (where you can go either north or south) it unlocks new hauntings and collectible events all over the map, and you start bouncing back and forth so often it ruins any sense of immersion.

Dying Light The Following
28hours 76% complete.
Played this on day 1, great game. Replaying the GOTYE, with the DLC.
The free running works so well, story is good, just the final boss fight is a QTE.
The Following DLC 14hours 40mins 89% complete.
No more free running across building rooftops, now you drive a buggy cross country. Map is good, but needs fast travel locations.
Trying to climb mountains & cliff ledges is super tough.
In the city its great, but they did not accommodate for the change of scenery.
Story is good, two endings, both bad endings though. At lest you get a decent boss fight in the one ending.

Had to go and check my own stats but forgot what compact open-world experience the first game and expansion offered. Been meaning to go back and replay them ever since finishing Dying Light 2 - which I felt drifted way too far into generic open-world design.

Harran felt so much like an actual place as you learned optimal routes and paths - especially when fleeing back to safety after dark. "The City" in the sequel has Ubisoft-style verticality, where there are so many traversal paths it might as well be flat for all the difference it makes.

The QTE battles were a sign of the times I guess, though at least the boss battle and infected Crane are presumably canon.

Have not played the new game yet.
The first game was a very well done open world zombie game.
But in the dlc, they did not accommodate for the different play style.
So the things that worked so well in the base game, got very frustrating on the new map.

Resident Evil 4 Remake - Took a while to get into it, but it's very good. PS4 version, bizarrely, has lots of low resolution textures and models. You wouldn't say it was the same engine that powered RE2 remake. Complete visual step backwards.

Saints Row 2022
89% complete.
Not the best open world game, but fun none the less.
Story is terrible. All the Saints Row stuff from previous games are gone, very toned down. But then its a reboot.
The map is quite nice, lots to do & see.
Very buggy, cars are floaty & gameplay overall in very last, last gen.
Not much thought or effort went into this game, no wonder Volition closed down.
