Hey @Tea, any chance you can organise a copy of Silent Hill Origins for me? Doesn't matter which platform

@IkariX it's a good thing IDGAF about your opinion then, lol
It may surprise you to know that other people have different experiences to your own. But I know that concept may be too far out of reach for you.

As for Nexus, I don't know why you ban people that have legitimate points relating to polls you create. None of what I said was out of line, but clearly you prefer sycophants like IkariX on the forum instead of customers who have legitimate criticism of your logistics (which you make us pay for).

Nexushub has the best customer service no doubt. I have had other retailers that don't care about restocking on sold out titles but yet nexushub helped get me townfall steelbooks and control resonant steelbooks even though they were sold out. No one cares about delivery fees as long as you get the physical game in good condition like I have, especially steelbooks which can be fragile.

@DarkWingDuck

I'm going to call [censored] on your post. I've been buying from Nexus since the AnimeWorx days from about 2008. I have literally never ever had bad customer service from NexusHub. So you are being disingenuous. I don't think you appreciate the great lengths they go to, to get these games for us. But enjoy your other retailers and their[censored] service.

MrOde very good point! I'd pay extra for express overnight shipping.

HaseoVII SAME regarding FF7Rebirth (best believe I preordered Revelation though )

I am such a huge fan of Nexus Hub - no one else in SA imports the niche titles - I used to need to get my stuff from Amazon Japan/US

My backlog is so big I don't care how late I get my orders lol haven't even played FF7 Rebirth or even Stellar Blade yet, but that's just me.

I'd actually go even further and say do standard free shipping for all orders above R1000 but allow an express shipping option/add on for those that want to pay extra. I would gladly pay extra to get whatever I ordered the day after I order it.

Shipping costs on games? What's that?

I'm not looking to start a bad thread about this, I was really just curious because I misclicked the tab on the left and stumbled upon the poll (I'd never clicked it before).

I am fiercely brand loyal to Nexus Hub and I don't care too much about not getting a game day-1. I know other names like BT and Koodoo ship earlier so you get it on release, but I'd never be "that" excited that I must play day-1, life happens
On the other hand, paying an extra R150 every time you order a commercially available title does add up, and I would not blame the average consumer for trying to save some money.

I know I'd feel less off about it if there was a price match, and free delivery at a certain threshold.
Cathal

I mean if I can save money, why wouldn't I?

Are there circumstances where I would pay that extra without thinking twice about it, yes. In general there's little reason to do so.

That said, touching on Darkwing's point of eBucks, payment options feel like a lot bigger point than the R50 delivery. Lot of places offering rewards, pay later, etc. Those are big pull points for customers.

the part where you have to find a dumb goat and then bring it back just wasn't needed.

Must agree, That was dumb. I enjoyed the Baron's quest a lot though

I have 5 mates playing this game as well, strange to see how different we all finding it. My one mate put the game down already and went back to playing Bloodborne and Far Cry 4, he says he'll finish TW3 over the next 2 years 2 of my other mates have the same view as DP, get to the end of the game and DONE, trade and move on!!! Then there's myself and my Chris, we can't wait to start all over again and do everything differently Not sure how my other mate feels about the game, I see him play, but he never replies to our PSN msg's lol!

I don't know what it is about this game, but it has me HOOKED BIG TIME!!! The reason I can probably look past all the bugs and broken parts in the game, is because the Good in this game is so big, that the bad that is there, just feels non existent. I for one will definitely play another play through, due to the enormous size of this game, I would probably after my 2nd play through wait for the 2 expansions before I attempt more replays

I'm actually going to try and see if I can get the camera issue fixed in TW2 on my PC, then play it before I start my 2nd play through of TW3

*I should actually see if Steam has TW1 for sale

Parry and counter-attacking is definitely hard as hell in this game compared the The Witcher 2. You can no longer parry from all directions and you're right, the timing varies a lot though I think it's the same for each weapon type (sword, axe, mace etc.).

I've tend not to use it unless I'm facing (or drawn away) a single enemy. Signs and bombs are best for crowd control in small areas, especially the Aard upgrade which creates a sphere-shaped shockwave pushing everyone back.

I'm a huge fan of counter attacking in games. But to be honest this just shows how one dimensional I can be, I always forget about Aard. I'm usually enjoying myself roasting people with Igni. I swear... I'm not a pyromaniac.

@DP I don't have the same frustrations as you with the game's pacing etc, but I must disagree about the "tacked on exploration". Exploration is encouraged because you can't get a fast travel without actually making the trek to a place. Sure, you could just ride straight there, but I find this game really has a good looking environment, and there's so much to see. Only really just ride past if the enemy is too strong...

But there is one thing, this being my second RPG, that I don't like. Why, when in dialogue, do the obvious things need to be said? Or, when a plan is obvious, does dear old Geralt have to ask what's going on? Where's the option to say: "Please don't waffle on any longer, I get it. Let's go."? I feel like I'm reading a comic from the 60s where the hero narrates everything he's doing, or like the terrible movies and TV shows that force explanations into dialogue. Can't things be more subtle? Intimate that which you should intimate, we'll make the inferences. Make a "Captain Obvious" mode for those who struggle to follow a plot.

This doesn't encourage exploration, you get fast travel posts at pretty much every town which you will get to by doing quests. You don't get fast travel posts in caves you found right at the bottom of the map, nothing about fast travel encourages exploration. Exploration is encouraged by rewarding the player with a rare enemy encounter or picking up awesome equipment. Nothing so far has made me happy about exploring an area, I've received nothing worthwhile for doing it.

All the dialogue can be skipped by pressing square and I've come across plenty of options where Geralt will say I don't care, get on with it, your wasting time etc.

Looking at the comments from DP regarding gameplay flaws and pacing, coupled with Mr. Hat Thing's feelings on the drawn out conversations, the more I play this game, the more I feel it really was built from the ground up for those those who've closely followed the games and the books even more so.

Initially I was concerned there were so few old characters during the opening hours of the game but now, about 50% through and back at Kaer Morhen, there have been dozens of conversations and encounters that relate directly back to events of the past games and a lot that comes from the books (from the short story collections and the 5 novels). At times Geralt and characters will ramble on, reminiscing about events of the past (games and books) and it's all the more impactful for it.

For me, I'd praise the game, overlooking any flaws in gameplay, as it has a strong story tying together the lives of many characters I'm really invested in.

I don't think this is true for the simple fact of them alienating a huge part of the player base.

Witcher 1 is only on PC
Witcher 2 was on PC and 360
Witcher 3 is now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One

The PC fanbase is not large enough to support the game and so the consoles needed to be added.

Not all of the books have been translated into English outside of a fan translation so why would they build the game for those small few that actually read it? Sorry but this post reads more as an elitist jab at people with complaints about the game. Fwa fwa well I have read and followed everything Witcher and the story is made for us. No it's not, this is first and foremost a game, if the gameplay is not on par it won't entice people to play, if people don't understand what they are playing they won't keep playing. Obviously being familiar with the series helps but I don't think this was the main thing on the developers minds, there is plenty of information in the game for people not familiar with the series and to catch up on characters and places.

I didn't jab at anyone - I'm trying to indicate why (in my own opinion) my love of the previous games/literature makes me willing to ignore gameplay issues and why other people may also have inflated opinions of the game.

Maybe I came across as too strong, I didn't mean you are taking a jab I meant that is how it comes across.

Personally for me I hate discussing things with people that cannot also discuss the faults of something, no game is perfect, especially this one and it's always better for conversation when you can discuss something with someone and not just have it shrugged off because for all intensive purposes when it comes to the subject they just come across as a "fanboy". Which is also sad because these are the same people that probably have the most weight behind their opinions but cannot be objective enough with it.

There is a reason fanboys are ignored these days.

I am probably one of the biggest Souls fans out there but that won't stop me from criticizing the games when it's needed. There are problems fix it don't overlook it just because you are a fan of the franchise, it will just make the next releases so much better, hopefully.

But yes I definitely do not agree that the game was made for those more familiar with the content.

I take your point DP - attempting to recoup costs on a game with the development costs of The Witcher 3 (which I imagine are enormous) could not be expected from sales to such a small fan base.

I try to remain objective but as I said on my post, small touches in this game have made it feel more meaningful to me. As someone who always prefers gameplay with context (essentially story), the narrative attached to every action in the Witcher 3 make this near perfect for me.

In the end, my post was aimed at explaining my glowing praise for the game (in light of it's many issues, both technical and gameplay), rather than to dig at you or Mr. Hat Thing so sorry if I offended either of you.

The game has its flaws, but as a FIFA player you sort of tend to get used to bugs and glitches... that's not to say it's okay. But since I'm both South African, used to disappointment, and cynical, the bad side of something is to be expected...

But I have to say, honestly, my only real issue with the game has been the dialogue obviousness, as I've said.

@DP I get what you said about wanting to not be one-sided about a game, and discuss its faults... but maybe it would be refreshing to hear something positive about this game from your perspective
When ever I read your posts on this thread I'm genuinely puzzled as to why you're playing this game. But hey, if you want to play something that you seem to hate, go ahead... maybe with less vitriol.

Has anyone seen the Invisible Man with Kevin Bacon? Yesterday my Roach pulled a "reappearance" in bits and pieces. It was fascinating to watch.

I wasn't offended. I get what you said, but you can bring in lore and past events while also not being... what's the word... condescendingly obvious, right?

Yes, I saw Geralt has the option in some conversations to just show how much he doesn't care, but too many times I've been trapped in a stupid conversation with stupid responses. I think it's a me against RPG thing though.

I'm glad I've got you guys, because Gamespot gave this game a 10/10, which I'm still wondering about. We've got a nice range of opinions here.

Fanboy or not...yes the game has bugs and glitches, I mean, I went through a door the other day and fell right through the world, Geralt just kept falling and falling and falling till I had to close the game and restart it. I've had frame rate issues, I've hit a bandits head off and instead of his head flying, his body flew away, yes, some of these things are annoying and shouldn't be in game, or at least as I said before, when you release a patch, make sure it actually fixes[censored].

But that all being said, this game has so much goodness in it, that those issues are really easy to just over look and enjoy the game. I for one am a person who, especially when I really enjoy a game, can be biased or show my fanboyism towards certain games, but that's just because certain (and not a lot) games just do things SO right, that the wrong is almost non existent and not worth arguing or even worth discussing. But hey, that's just me No matter what who says, TW3 IS FAN F****n TASTIC!!!
