That cameo was a rumour, don't think anyone attached to the film actually ever talked about it. I think the director or producer said that he could appear in a sequel, but that was about it

He's threatened to ask to be released. Think he knows that he can't just walk away without serious repercussions. I think Disney would let him walk, but they could just as easily play hardball and require their pound of flesh to send a message

Well Venom isn't part of the deal (Sony not Fox) so if the movie succeeds we'll get sequels. IIRC Marvel retained the TV rights to the X-Men and thus could always make TV shows. Gifted and Legion were deals that Marvel did with Fox before the merger that allowed them to use those characters and make those shows in exchange for getting back some of the lesser used characters.

I expect that we will still see X-Men films etc if Dark Phoenix and New Mutants do well. Most likely, Marvel will possibly reboot mutants etc into the MCU
