Wow, unlucky about that action being taken again them for the PSV.
Its not that they couldn't do it, its that they weren't allowed to. It is purely licensing issues preventing PS3 remote play to psv.

true a lot of people would have gotten a vita if it were able to play ps2 games just imagine the games one could get besides the ps1 and psp games. the memory card thing imo was a stuff up cos they so pricey . as for mh that's a bit of a hit and miss cos not a lot of people I know enjoy the learning curb on that game.

there is no market for handheld going forward anyway.
I think that there's still a market for handheld gaming but I think after the vita Sony won't be in a rush to release a new handheld anytime soon also doubt ms will release a handheld console so that basically leaves Nintendo to continue topping the charts with their handheld consoles.

Its definitely falling below mobile, but the but the market is still definitely there with the so called "Hardcore" gaming scene. Considering mobile gaming is still in a rough spot at the moment (Heavy focus on free to play titles, over saturation of low quality games on store fronts, lots of DRM, gaming incompatibility between firmware updates etc) we will most likely see one more major handheld from Nintendo, afterwards the dedicated handheld market will then be taken over by so called "Pocket emulation machines" i.e. Independently constructed machines the run various emulated software from various gaming publishers (Endorsed by them or not)

Rumour is, is that the Nintendo NX will be a handheld and a set top, so not quite dead yet

Mh would have helped them but the side effect could have been less software support from other developers as evident on the 3DS. Personally, I prefer teh abundance of games JPN devs are giving the Vita as opposed to the 3DS basically becoming a Pokemon/ AC/ MH machine.
The Vita is not powerful enough to emulate PS2 games. Doing a direct comparison of specs doesnt always translate accurately. The current best PS2 emulator for PC requires better specs than the Vita to just run the game, and not even in a good state either. If this was possible I am pretty positive Sony would have done it by now. At this point software revenue is what is making them money off the Vita.
the memory cards were an unneeded cost. Probably to help make the Vita cheaper or stop piracy. Either way, not super helpful for the machine for many people true.

Of course it is. Everyone likes to talk about how well Nintendo is doing with the 3DS (compared to the Vita), not taking into account that the 3DS might barely hit 70 million, when the DS hit 150 million. The 3DS is also the worst selling Nintendo handheld ever.
This does not even take into account that the 3DS probably has the least amount of 3rd party support ever for a handheld.
Mobile gaming is not a fad, its taken grip of the market and it is here to stay. Why do you think Nintendo's NX is both a handheld and a console? Because they know they are losing ground in the handheld space. Why do you think Nintendo is going ahead with mobile games? because they know that market is overtaking their own.

These are blips on what is a pretty successful marketplace for developers and publishers.
