Last year, Nexus played host to the first annual Creator's Ball (October 27-28) in order to raise funds for Animal Allies, a non-profit charity that assists and helps care for animals in informal settlements and strays found elsewhere. The Creator's Ball, founded by Walker-jay Roussow (ShushieBushie), The SA Geeks' Kerryn and Ross, and Jack Donde (Eternal Frost), aimed to raise a total of R10 000 for Animal Allies by hosting a 24-hour livestream, bringing together 26 of South Africa's talented content creators for a weekend of non-stop gaming, festivities, and doing it for a good cause.

Despite setting a bar of R10 000, though, the Creator's Ball managed to accomplish a major milestone of raising R28 000! The event was considered a huge success, thanks to the content creators as well as guests that attended the 24-hour livestream.

Among some of the local talent there were the developers of the awesome, South African-brewed action game, Boet Fighter, who talked about the process of making the game, and their inspirations. Nexus Digital's team, consisting of writers and content creators Sam Aberdeen, Keegan Govender, Shelly van Heerden (Xenorra), Douw Pretorius, Robert de Wit, and Rico van As, all held a discussion too, celebrating everything gaming and overcoming Keegan's innate fear of losing his horse in Red Dead Redemption 2. Since the event took place on the eve of Halloween too, good ol' fashioned pumpkin carving was in order - with some coming up with equally spooky and creative designs.

Other content creators present at the event included the likes of Samplayze, ShushieBushie, The SA Geeks, THEED3, Trinoc, Maoukami, Dum Dum Die, Julia "Bish" Robson, Artdepartment, Constantine104, RustyPieLover, Sabrefox91o, and many more! They all came together with a common goal in mind, allowing them to use their skills and dedicate time to charity - and most ended up powering through the full 24-hour livestream. To assist in making this all possible, AFDA students also poured in hard work to help on the production side of the Creator's Ball.

This year, content creators will once again reassemble for Creator's United, a refined iteration of Creator's Ball, raising charity for Abraham Kriel Bambanani Children’s Non-Profit! Over 40 Streamers, Vloggers, YouTubers, Writers and Influencers will all cross over in an ambitious, superhero-themed 24-hour non-stop livestream. The event is scheduled to take place on July 27-28.
