Final Fantasy XIV has been going from strength to strength since it’s Realm Reborn launch. The base game, which was no slouch in providing a fantastic story and gameplay to make it the best Final Fantasy game in years, has since been superseded by the game's expansions and a continuous stream of content releases via patches and updates. Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy XIII, and even Nier Automata elements have made their way into Eorzia, giving players themed gear and events that have made a gobsmackingly large game, even larger.
Now one of Final Fantasy VII’s toughest optional bosses, the Ruby Weapon, is making the jump into Final Fantasy XIV, joining the already present Ultima Weapon. Ruby will be making its appearance as a Trial, in both Normal and Extreme flavours, and will be one of the Shadowbringer expansion's optional boss fights to be presented in the games upcoming 5.2 patch.
Many Final Fantasy players probably have fond (or perhaps not) memories of the games' two terrible titans of power; the Ruby Weapon and the far more devilish Emerald Weapon, and the insane amount of work needed to max out Mimic, Knights of The Round, and Phoenix materias just to attempt to take down these two. The desert-dwelling Ruby was the easier of the two, but still presented a tough challenge.
With Ruby making an appearance, many fans are hoping that Emerald will also return as a Trial in XIV. The release of Patch 5.2, and Ruby, comes at a great time as it is meant to go live just before the March 3rd, 2020 release date of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
