With October bringing a new change in season as well as Spooky Season, it also brings in a new anime season as well, with both new and continuing anime hitting streaming services.



New Anime

Firefly Wedding – starts 9 October
Studio: David Production

Satoko Kirigaya has received many marriage proposals from prospective suitors, all of which she has turned down due to a secret health issue. One day, Satoko is kidnapped by a group of mercenaries, one of which is legendary assassin, Shinpei Gotou, who has been tasked to kill her. In a desperate bid to save her life, she fakes love at first sight with Gotou, and asks him to marry her, to which he agrees.

Psyren – starts 5 October
Studio: Satelight



On his way home, Ageha Yoshina finds a strange calling card with the word “Psyren” on it, and finds out the next day that a fellow student, Sakurako Amamiya, has the exact same card in her possession. When Sakurako goes missing, Ageha calls the number on the card, and after answering a bunch of questions, finds himself in a strange world filled with monsters in an unexpected game of life-or-death.

Overgeared – starts 27 September

While playing the popular VR game “Satisfy” one day, Shin Youngwoo finds a powerful item that grants him the ability to forge powerful and unique weapons, as well as equip the game’s most powerful gear. Hello, I am a Witch and My Crush Wants Me to Make a Love Potion – starts 5 October

Reading like the title of a magical Reddit post, this anime is about a witch called Rose, and her crush on knight Harij Azm. Living isolated from the world, Rose is surprised when Sir Harij appears on her doorstep asking for a love potion. Heartbroken, she agrees, but first sends him on ridiculous errands for each potion ingredient so that she can spend time with him before he uses the love potion on the lady who has captured his heart.

New Anime Seasons

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2 – starts 20 October
Studio: Studio Trigger in collaboration with CD Projekt Red



A season that focuses on four new edgerunners, season 2 is scheduled to have 10 episodes of a brand-new story. In season 2, we meet characters Weak (a former cyberpunk legend), D (a netrunner on a revenge mission), Roman Carax (a young cinephile), and Talia Yang (a rebel tied to the corpo towers). While there is no proper synopsis of the show yet, the story is bound to be just as good, if not better than season 1, as the devs have promised that this season will be bloodier, darker, and even more emotionally devasting compared to season 1, which was already an emotional rollercoaster.

The Apothecary Diaries season 3 – starts 2 October

Still following on from the events of season 2, season 3 of The Apothecary Diaries promises a brand-new story arc that focuses on the appearance of a possible immortal / celestial maiden, as well as a famine that threatens to engulf the land. Obviously, I’m sure the relationship between Jinshi and Maomao will continue to develop slowly, especially since Maomao has now left the rear palace.

Black Clover season 2 – starts 3 October

After 170 episodes that were released between October 2017 to March 2021, and the movie Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King (2023), the official season 2 of Black Clover is finally releasing. With the immense number of episodes (not as many as One Piece), fans unofficially broke the series up into 4 parts, with the official season 2 set to be the fifth part of the series. Picking up where the last episode ended, season 2 will head into the Spade Kingdom Raid arc, and continue to follow Asta and Yuno as they each strive to become the next Wizard King. (Yes, I have not yet watched the series and no, I will not be taking questions at this point in time).

Mission: Yozakura Family season 2 cour 2 – starts 11 October

Season 2 part 2 of Mission: Yozakura Family will continue this October, following the revelations that occurred earlier this year in part 1. If I say any more, spoilers will definitely be had.
