The much anticipated release of Mortal Kombat 11 is just around the corner, and saying I am excited to get my hands on the game would be a bit of an understatement - I keep throwing money at my screen but the game isn’t appearing for some reason. Over the last few months since the game's announcement, we have received a steady flow of information regarding the characters, story and gameplay. There is still plenty to be revealed before the full release on April 23rd, 2019.

For those of us who can’t wait that long, we have the beta to look forward to this month. The Mortal Kombat 11 beta will be available automatically to all those who have pre-ordered the game on PSN or Xbox Live. Unfortunately I do have a bit of bad news for the PC and Switch players: the beta access is exclusive to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One and Xbox One X. For those that are ordering the physical edition, please make sure that the store you are ordering from has the beta access as a pre-order incentive. I'm happy to say that this is the case with The Nexus, and customers who pre-order the game before the beta release date will receive their beta code for the platform they pre-ordered the game for.
Additionally, all pre-orders will receive Shao Kahn as a DLC character. We don’t yet have the exact time on when the beta will be playable, but we do know that it will be available on March 28th, 2019. Pre-order codes will work immediately but the actual content will only be available to download when the beta is active. This is all the info we have so far on the beta, but we will be sure to give an update once more info is revealed.

I’m sure we can expect a couple of characters to be available as well as an online mode. Beta’s are usually there to get feedback on online net code and balancing around characters, after all. However, I am really hoping for an offline versus mode. In terms of characters I want to see in the beta, I’ve always been a Mileena fan and I'm hoping that her appearance in MK11 is true, but in case she doesn’t make the cut, I do have 2 characters I am looking forward to playing.
I’ve been a fan of Skarlet ever since she made her debut in Mortal Kombat 9 - I still think she still has one of the coolest fatalities out there. If you are unfamiliar with her, check out her "Make it Rain" fatality (ed - So damn cool). I am super psyched that she is in MK11 and she looks like great fun to play. A surprise character for me in MK11 was Sonya, now played by Ronda Rousey. I’ve never been a fan of Sonya and barely ever played with her, but the changes they made to her in MKX really jelled with me and I found her just an overall blast to play. It looks like that has transitioned over to MK11 which leaves me very happy.

Let us know below which characters you are excited to get your hands on!
You can pre-order the PS4 version HERE, and the Xbox One version HERE. Nintendo Switch will be receiving the game almost a month later on May 17th, which you can also pre-order HERE. Keep an eye on the Nexus for all the upcoming information on MK11 as well as our impressions on the beta, and inevitable final review of the game! We will be livestreaming the beta on March 28th too.
