Days Gone Will Take 30 Hours to Beat

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Days Gone creative director John Garvin confirmed that the game will take around 30 hours to beat, but might be longer depending on the choices players make.

“The golden path is going to take you about 30 hours,” said Garvin. “But it’s going to take you a lot longer than that because things are going to happen to you along the way depending on how careful you are and how much you pay attention.”

For a single-player only game, 30 hours is a great length for players who want to explore the game to its full extent, as well as invest in the lengthy story that the game will presumably tell. However, it’s also not explained whether this 30 hours accounts for just the main story, but judging by Garvin’s “golden path” description, it seems that this will be the length of the story.

Until the full game is released, this should more or less be taken with a grain of salt, as previous statements from God of War director Cory Barlog stated that the game would take anywhere between 35-40 hours to beat, but this accounted for the optional side quests too. Realistically, God of War’s story will take players anywhere between 15-18 hours to complete, and even sooner if you ignore side quests and just tackle the main story. Days Gone may very well fall into that same boat, but if Garvin is to be believed, then the game is looking to be a long journey.

Days Gone is currently set to release sometime in 2019 exclusively for PlayStation 4.

Cautiously optimistic if the devs can match the quality of the all the other in-house studios but zombies + open-world feels like blending two tired genres. I just wish Bend Studios would go back to the Syphon Filter series.
