Borderlands Movie: Cate Blanchett in Talks to Play Lilith
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Gearbox Software would be lending their prized IP, Borderlands, to Hollywood in a live-action film adaptation. Interestingly, Hostel director and Quentin Tarantino favourite Eli Roth signed on as director, with the casting preparations beginning shortly after. It seems like we may have our first actress signing on for a particularly juicy role as the siren, Lilith: Cate Blanchett.

Variety reports that The Lord of the Rings actress Cate Blanchett is in talks to play the game's central character (because we all picked the siren class in the original game, let's be honest), Lilith. However, we don't know if she will take up a central role in the film adaptation, but either way, the casting choice seems like an ideal fit given Blanchett's reputation, acting talent and uncanny resemblance to the character.
Lionsgate has not confirmed this casting just yet, though, with Variety stating that negotiations are still ongoing. This isn't the first time that Blanchett has appeared in a major franchise, as she rose to the spotlight by playing Queen Galadriel in both The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, as well as Thor's sister, Hela, in Thor: Ragnarok. He other works include The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, among many other smaller projects.
