Still have fond memories of a desk in my room with a PC and next to it tiny 4:3 CRT with a PS2 (and later X360) that facilitated endless gaming sessions on a battered but incredibly comfy bean bag.

The Binding by Bridget Collins

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcRPWwpNU-kX3wUaeliPCDZvT9pVVvte6zDD-HNB5Y5wZQga0_ps

"Imagine you could erase your grief.
Imagine you could forget your pain.
Imagine you could hide a secret.
Forever.

Emmett Farmer is working in the fields when a letter arrives summoning him to begin an apprenticeship. He will work for a Bookbinder, a vocation that arouses fear, superstition and prejudice – but one neither he nor his parents can afford to refuse.

He will learn to hand-craft beautiful volumes, and within each he will capture something unique and extraordinary: a memory. If there’s something you want to forget, he can help. If there’s something you need to erase, he can assist. Your past will be stored safely in a book and you will never remember your secret, however terrible.

In a vault under his mentor’s workshop, row upon row of books – and memories – are meticulously stored and recorded.

Then one day Emmett makes an astonishing discovery: one of them has his name on it.

THE BINDING is an unforgettable, magical novel: a boundary-defying love story and a unique literary event."

Just finished, a short story acting as an introduction to the new character. Pretty good.

Still reading A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness but also have Mythos by Stephen Fry on the go. It's so good! I love his humour.

Just finished this. Basically it's Scooby-Doo meets the Cthulhu Mythos. Starts of ok-ish but ends strongly. Overall a great, solid read that made a nice change to the usual Mythos shenanigans.

It's Robert E. Howard. All of his stuff is fantastic. I managed to pick this up luckily in a second hand shop. It contains all of his Solomon Kane, Bran Mak Morn, King Kull and assorted Sword and Sorcery tales. Coupled with all his Conan books and Cthulhu Mythos stuff - outside of his sports stories - I've pretty much got all his stuff. 700 + pages.
