So far, so very very good.
After a short quest in Valen that introduces some minor characters from the books, Geralt heads off to Toussaint (which occupies the southern tip of the world map). After the gloomy settings that characterized the original game and Hearts of Stone expansion, Toussaint feels lively and vibrant. What initially looks like a small map is actually a massive north-south valley, comparable to a slimmer version of the huge Velen/Novigrad region.
After a few hours following the main questline (and introduced to a major character from the books), I started to branch out, only to find there is a ton of content laid on thick. The game is a proper microcosm of the original game with interesting main quests, amusing sidequests, hunts, armour diagrams, and new a new Gwent set to collect (with great new music to go with it).
If you're coming back to the game after a long break, it's running as smoothly as it's ever been on console and the new 1.20 patch makes some much needed changes to handling menus pages such as the inventory, crafting/alchemy screens and navigating the map. There's also a ton of customization for gameplay such as optional enemy-scaling, designed to keep any backtracking interesting if you find combat too easy.
Finally, there's the fact this expansion is only R320 and CD Projekt Red once again puts to shame other major developers/publihsers for both content and quality. If you're a Witcher fan, both expansion have been incredible but this is the one to choose if you're uncertain.
